  • Not perfect, but highly functional and a vast increase to the capabilities of my Gopro platform.
Overall, I really like this item. I do not consider it quite perfect, there are a couple of things I will mention about it which I think could be improved. That said, this item still performs tremendously and vastly increases the options I have available to me when using the GoPro Hero 13 black. I will start with some of the downsides I encountered to get them out of the way. The first is that for some reason the zoom button on this device did not function with my GoPro whatsoever despite the Gopro itself having zoom functionality. Since this is a GoPro branded item, I am not sure how they justified releasing it like that, but overall it's a minor gripe and it can be worked around. Most would advise not to zoom on the GoPro anyway and rather to achieve the zoomed in effect in post, that said, I'd still like to have the option. The zoom button does work with my smart phone, but I did not really get this gimbal for smart phone use. The next major downside I encountered is that if you want to use this item in conjunction with a GoPro and an external microphone in Landscape mode (as opposed to vertical videos) it is really almost a necessity to also have the Media Mod (which is an additional $80 dollars). I personally do not own the media mod yet, though I would like to get it now that I have this gimbal. I instead have the microphone adapter and cage from small rig, as well as a Nux B-10 Vlog lavalier mic kit, and overall I was able to get this setup functional in Landscape mode, but it took a significant effort troubleshooting and balancing the gimbal, as well as extra adapters and overall makes for a pretty awkward/bulky rig (I have a couple of pictures of it so judge for yourself). But at the end of the day It worked, which is what's important, so just know if you want to go down that route and you're going to invest in this item, it's probably best to go ahead and invest in the media mod as well. For various reasons my equipment works and balances much easier in Portrait/Vertical video mode, which is not ideal. My last complaint is that, while the AI module is truly great and very functional, unfortunately when used in conjunction with the GoPro, I really was not able to find a way to easily make it focus on other subjects than myself. Particularly non-human subjects or humans unable to give the appropriate hand signals, though this is possible when used in conjunction with a smart phone, unfortunately the companion app/gopro/gimbal itself does not have any functionality that I am aware of aside from the hand gestures to control the AI module, and I really wish it did. Complaints out of the way though, pretty much every thing else about this item is truly amazing, which is why I've rated it 5 stars despite the issues above. This gimbal overall can handle a GoPro rigged in both orientations with a lot of extra components on it, and in my experience using it so far, I have not had any issues with the motors overheating or it otherwise failing to do it's job provided it's properly balanced before use and the various axis are unlocked (basically if you take your time and follow the instructions, and if you're willing to troubleshoot to get your rig balanced, this gimbal will perform exceptionally well.) It's movement is very smooth and controllable, and it has 4 built in modes all of which serve their distinct purposes and all of which I find useful. I overall find the item intuitive to use after just a few sessions practicing with it. It allows you to greatly increase the quality of your GoPro footage by vastly increasing stability and controllability, acts as a camera man in solo situations, has a built in fill light for moments when you do not have a convenient lighting option, allows you to charge your GoPro from the gimbal's battery, has good battery life, is powerful enough to handle anything you'd reasonably put on it in conjunction with a GoPro as far as I can tell, provided you are able to fit it into the dimensional requirements and balance it. It's fairly affordably priced at $220 dollars, seems to be quality made and well thought out, comes with a useful case which can function reasonably well to hold the gimbal and your GoPro as well as a few additional accessories if you pack them in intelligently. So far I'm really pleased with this gimbal, and the GoPro platform as a whole. I just hope they continue to improve capabilities via firmware updates and companion application updates to allow it to take greater advantage of the hardware capabilities. One other thing to note if you are new to filming and/or new to using a Gimbal, it does feel a bit awkward to walk around with something like this in public, definitely draws a lot of attention and is not going to be something everyone feels comfortable doing so take that into consideration with your personality and comfort level before purchasing as well. ... show more

  • What a fantastic gimbal; amazing features and very easy to use!
From the ease of use, to the AI tracking option, this is an absolutely fantastic gimbal! It was ordered to be primarily paired with a dedicated iPhone primarily for recording a large percentage of content with, and for all hand-held shots. There are a few great features that are definitely highlights of this unit. I don’t shoot too much content these days, but am geared up to soon shoot a few promotional videos for a startup business. I’ve been using a FeiyuTech Scorp Mini 2 gimbal for the last year paired with an iPhone. I’m primarily shooting with the tried and true 1080P with the phone hand held, to match up with a couple old Sony HVR-Z7U that I can use for shooting on tripods. The GoPro Fluid Pro AI 3-Axis gimbal is so easy to use, right out of the box. Without even looking at any instructions, I was able to load the phone into the phone clamp and slide it to balance the weight. There are little labels (1, 2, 3) that give the basics steps to get it going. And it couldn't be easier. Just unlock the axis point, mount the phone/slide the balance bar for balance, then power the unit on. The gimbal is easily folded out from itself, and does not have as many locking axes points like the the Scorp Mini 2 (that's a bit of an overly complicated kit and multiple parts). In comparison, it took me quite a few minutes looking at the Scorp Mini 2 manual and usage videos, in order for me to be able to successfully use it. The GoPro Fluid Pro AI gimbal was just intuitive, and user friendly. I have yet to test all the features out and am very excited about the potentials for use. For content creators, the AI tracking feature is a feature that has become indispensable, and opens up wide potentials for creative and engaging video. I personally do not have the need to shoot video content of myself, but If I do, the AI tracking feature is built right in, and acts as the “videographer” while the cameraman steps in front of the camera. Overall, this is a very versatile gimbal being able to use standard smart phones or GoPro cameras. It comes with a nice caring case that stores the gimbal easily. With the Scorp Mini 2, it has to be taken apart and fit into the case, then reassembled for specific camera configuration use. I really appreciate the ease and simplicity of the GoPro Fluid Pro AI 3-Axis Gimbal, and all of its amazing functions. This is a fantastic tool for anyone who wants to take more professional video with their cell phones, or with GoPro Hero cameras. I highly recommend it, glad to have it in the tool kit! ... show more

  • NEWBIE TO GIMBALS BUT NOT GOPRO
I was looking to get a gimbal as I am starting to learn pump foil and wanted something that could track me from the dock and provide good stable footage. I am also usually by myself so not much of a distraction for whatever I use other than the random bird or boat in the distance and since I am new to pump foil, not like I was going far anyway. I was surprised I didn’t find a good hands on tutorial of how to use this by GoPro itself nor really a tech reviewer and given I have never used a gimbal before it took a little trial and error but in under 30min I figured it all out. The AI tracking performed really well but mind you I am not going crazy distances nor going super fast at this point. The gestures worked very well and helped so I didn’t have to touch it each time which would require me to dry my hands. Overall, with it ability to be used with both GoPros and smartphones, AI tracking (great for pump foil but also to allow hands free ability to capture moments with my kiddo), battery life and ease of use, it was a win for me. I have been a GoPro user for user to it fit right into what I already own and use. ... show more
