This is a fantastic watch. I've been a long-time Fossil smartwatch user. My Fossil Gen 6 watch started acting up, and I recently learned that Fossil has exited smartwatches. Once I switched to the Pixel 3, I was thrilled and do not miss my Gen 6 at all. I should have switched sooner. My 2nd Fossil replacement alternative was the OnePlus 2. The Pixel looked better (to me) and has Wear OS 5 which is the most recent version. It was hard to decide between the two using online descriptions and reviews, but I am happy with my choice. The Pixel battery life is better than the Fossil, even with the always on display, and easily gets me though the day. The charge may not last as long as the OnePlus 2, but I do not wear it overnight and instead put the watch on the charger, so the extra battery life is not an issue for me. Others may see this differently. The Pixel 3 screen is MUCH brighter and sharper than the Fossil, the processor is faster, and the watch operation is intuitive and easy to learn. Activating the watch, setting it up, and switching from the Fossil was quick and easy since most of the apps and info are tied to my Google account. Long-time irritants with the Fossil were how the end of the watch band kept flopping loose from its holder band, and how the crown button constantly activated when I sharply bent my wrist. The Pixel fixes both of these issues. The Pixel watch band is a bit tricky to attach at first (YouTube helps), but it works MUCH better than the Fossil and is more comfortable. The Pixel has a nice feature where you can rotate the watch display 180 degrees (make it upside down) so you can wear the crown button on the left side of the watch. No more accidental app activations, restarts, or 911 calls! My primary watch use is for business to monitor emails and texts, and to see/screen/take phone calls. All these work beautifully, and are handled much better than with the Fossil. Even the weather app is upgraded in the new OS, and there is a timer that can be added to the tiles. I use my watch secondarily for the health features, and I was sad (at first) to learn Google Fit would not be on the Pixel. I used Fit on the Fossil to track steps and distance walked. The new FitBit basic version is a true upgrade and gives me all the info I had before, plus a lot more. I did not opt for the free Premium FitBit trial. I bought and recommend a set of the plastic watch covers for scratch and impact protection, and a charging stand. Both work great. ... show more

Bought my husband the 41mm and it fit him perfectly as a 6’1” guy with medium wrists. I was afraid the display would be too small, but it wasn’t. I’ll try not to repeat what others are saying in the reviews, but in our personal experience, the watch is a great replacement to him previously using his Pixel phone and wearing a Fitbit. It syncs easily with the phone for easy setup and you can customize your display, as well as which apps and functions you want it to do. For example, my husband loves that he is able to load his credit cards and swipe his watch instead of fumbling for his phone or physical wallet when trying to pay for fares on his daily commute. The display is bright and legible. There are a lot of cool features to explore, such as using the watch as a soft flashlight at night when you don’t want to get flash banged by the flashlight feature in your phone. Or using the watch as a “remote control” to have your phone camera take photos from a tripod or hands free mode. Or having the watch track your heart rate and monitor your sleep. No more missing texts or calls because you didn’t hear your phone - you can set your watch to vibrate on your arm. The mic quality is surprisingly good, although it doesn’t mute background noises, so it isn’t recommended for use in crowded or noisy areas. The audio-to-text speech recognition of the watch is also more accurate than expected. The design is excellent - you can rotate the display so that you can wear the watch comfortably as a left-handed person with the knob facing outwards, which the Fitbit could not. I think if you catch it on sale and you own a Pixel phone, this watch is worth buying. Love this watch- it was a total upgrade from Fitbit but figured that the Google watch may get me more life expectancy. The only thing I do not like is having to charge once a day- my Fitbit watch would last 4 days or more on a charge. But I understand this watch does so much more and relies on Bluetooth to run. I never have any issues with the connection and it is accurate on fitness monitoring- although it does not count my steps as fast as my Fitbit did- maybe it’s just me! I can do so much more on this watch than my older Fitbit. If you are looking for a new smart watch this is worth the money- the 41cm fits my small wrist well, 45cm would be better for bigger wrists. Also I have bought the watch covers- cheap plastic cover to snap on- to keep the face looking nice as it is just the glass. So far I have had no issues with it breaking or marking. Update- after having for many months now I have 2 things I don’t like about this watch- they are just personal preference but still annoying. 1. I HATE that I have to charge daily- I find it is not convenient and takes longer than a shower…so I lose steps/ tracking/ etc (Most the time I forget it is charging, etc) 2. The pedometer is inaccurate- I work a very active job and go to the gym - and I NEVER get to 10,000 steps! My previous watch was always reaching my goal- I feel this is not sensitive enough to pick up my steps. Say when I am pushing a cart or lawnmower- nothing because I am not moving my arms. And it will not pick up any steps if I am on the bike at the gym unless I put the workout on- seems it cheats me daily. So I am not sure if the developers read these but it needs a new way to count. The Google Pixel is great. I never paid to connect it to my phone, but I appreciate that I can still see what messages are coming in, and receive calls. Love the workout monitoring! I enjoy the sleep tracking too. That seems to work well. The biggest downfall is definitely battery life, BUT it charges very quickly! I appreciate that! ... show more

I hesitated for a long time before buying a smart watch, thinking I wanted one but didn’t NEED one. After extensive research, I chose this watch and it has exceeded my expectations. Here are the top health-related features I love: Sleep Tracking: The sleep tracking is accurate, and I’ve been using it to monitor the effects of new sleep hygiene techniques that I have incorporated. It’s been great to see measurable improvements. Activity Monitoring: It records my daily steps and sends intermittent reminders to get up and move throughout the day, which helps keep me active. FitBit Compatibility: This phone is paired with the FitBit app (I upgraded to FitBit Premium). This watch is tops! I've had to buy the fitbit sense 2 twice. Once every two years because the battery just suddenly dies. I decided to try the Pixel 3 this time. It has everything that the sense has + MORE for the same price!! It has all the apps that your phone has, and a flashlight ability. It also has airplane mode that you can toggle off and on, if your trying to be mindful about EMF's. It pairs up to your phone flawlessly, and is so fast. I thought the circular watch face would be too big and that the dial would accidentally get pressed (like the sense) but, nope! It's very useful without being set off. You can have up to 9 settings on the watchface. When you click the item, it takes you straight to it (calories, distance etc. ) You no longer need to scroll through everything to get to what you want. I did spend the extra $ to buy a 3 year warranty through Amazon, and I do know of I'll need it, but so far this watch has been totally worth the cost, and this is coming from someone that doesn't have the money just to be throwing around ... show more

    • Inaccurate, Inconsistent, Glitchy, Poor Quality and More
This was a huge waste of money and I am now barely just past the return date. I bought one of these on Amazon prime day because it had been on my wish list. I had been using a Fitbit Inspire 3 for a year and actually have loved it, but wanted something that looked nicer with outfits and that had a few more functions. On top of that, I read an article that Google is going to be phasing out the fitbit's now that they have acquired the company and basically forcing everyone to the Pixel watches. So I wanted to get ahead of it. With all that said, I truly do not understand the great reviews of this fitness watch. It's shortcomings are many. I can only assume that most people that have given this great reviews have not been using a Fitbit and therefore do not realize how inaccurate this is. I need to say also that I bought this brand new. This was not a used product or refurbished. Brand new. First off, this watch is inaccurate when it comes to step count by more than 1/3. As in, it misses over 1/3 of my steps CONSISTENTLY. So, if I had actually gotten 9k steps in, it only registers maybe around 6k. I've used fitbits for years. I know how to calibrate the step length and make sure that everything is correct. I've worked with Google's team to make sure that everything is correct. I have everything set correctly. I have worn both my Fitbit and this together in order to track the inconsistencies. I've even counted my own steps. This thing misses around 1/3 of steps. Period. That's a whole lot of steps you are missing. So if you buy this and you feel like that your step count is too low, it is not in your head. Second, The HRV and heart rate algorithms and sensors are off by a significant amount. Because I have Hashimoto's and use MyFitness trackers for medical monitoring, I have made sure to test the accuracy of my Fitbit with my doctor's instruments on multiple occasions. My doctor and hospital staff have compared readings on their accurate equipment and verified that my Fitbit is insanely accurate. This watch also consistently overcalculates heart rate and under calculates HRV. In other words, it will consistently tell you that your current and resting heart rate is around 10bpm more than it actually is and will tell you that your HRV is about 7-10 lower than it actually is. All things that point to you being more unhealthy than you actually are. Again, I have worn both of these together and also calculated my own heartbeat and the pixel watch is inaccurate. Third, this thing has a horrible horrible battery life. I bought the Wi-Fi version, not the LTE version. I bought that specifically because it was supposed to have a better battery life. Nope. It needs recharged at least once every day or day and a half and that is WITH having the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth kept off, only purposely syncing with my Fitbit app once or twice a day by manually turning on the Wi-Fi or the Bluetooth, and keeping the brightness on low. If you even have this on medium brightness and have the Wi-Fi on when you are home by itself, you're going to have to recharge this at least every 24 hours or less. If you have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on it's even sooner and it only lasts about 16 hours. So if you are buying this to be able to use all of the fancy functions and Wi-Fi capability, you're going to need to keep in mind that you are going to have to recharge this often. Possibly more than once a day. And it does not recharge quickly. While the features are great and I like the use of Google Assistant and things on that, the watch off and glitches and restarts randomly and Mrs calls and things like that even when connected properly. Also, I should mention that this watch is fairly heavy. Even compared to regular watches. So you'll need to get used to that. It didn't bother me too much and I could have lived with it if it weren't for everything else going on with the watch. Lastly, I do need to address what was my last straw. That is the fact that I pay for Fitbit premium and the watch stopped consistently syncing with my Fitbit app. Some days it would, some days it wouldn't. Some days it would only sync part of my data, other days none. In this frustrating times were I had several occasions where my sleep chart was not available and said it did not get recorded at all despite the fact that I was wearing the watch correctly and had worn it during the night. I spent hours on the phone with support over multiple days for them to come to the conclusion that they didn't know what was causing this and it must be my fault even though they had to admit that everything that I was doing was correct and I was syncing it often enough. These issues only came about in the last few weeks when the new update was pushed to my watch. If you get on the forums online on Reddit and other areas you will see that a ton of other people have had the same issues since the updates and it has basically rendered my watch unusable. I need the data for my heart rate and breathing rate and all of that, especially when sleeping, in order to keep track of my health because of my Hashimotos. Not being able to see those stats is a problem because my thyroid levels can very quickly get out of whack and normally my first indicator before I have severe symptoms is in my sleep charts. So after not being able to solve this with them I was finally done. Again, I want to reiterate that this was since the last update and I'm not the only person to have experienced this. A lot of people have had this experience. And it was frustrating part of all of this is this happened just after the return window viability for all of us who caught these watches during prime days. Literally a few days after the return window was up. So now I am $200 in the hole with basically a break on my counter that is inaccurate and unusable. But I did go back to my Fitbit and have been incredibly happy and even more grateful for it. If Google does end up making them obsolete that's fine. I will just go to Garmin or another manufacturer. Accuracy inconsistency are what matter the most to most people who are wearing these watches to monitor their health and this just has too many flaws and cons to make it worth the money. Maybe Google will actually listen to their customers and fix these things. But in my experience with them with customer service, sounds to me like all they really care about is a money grab and selling people expensive equipment with their programs and apps built in... Instead of actually having a quality fitness tracker. If you want a smartwatch for the sake of having a smartwatch where you have Google accessibility and Google Assistant and can take calls and read emails from it, etc. This is great. But again, keep in mind the battery life is absolutely atrocious. But if you're okay with all that, it would make for a great smartwatch if you don't specifically want it for a fitness tracker. But if you are like me and many other people who were excited that Google supposedly integrated Fitbit with a smartwatch... You're going to be very very disappointed.
