    • Overheats in direct sun goes to night mode
My partner says that they've made a patch for the overheating issue. It seems to be better now, but I also fix the fan in the car for the AC so it may be the reason why it's not overheating. When you use voice to text, sometimes the mic stays on too long and what other people say or the television ands up in your string. Resolution on the screen is very good. Huge screen makes reading more comfortable. Seamless Google docs, photos, calendar is like magic. Photos and AI style editing is great! Last most of the day in one charge despite a million texts, IM's, other apps, etc. Huge step up from a Pixel 4a. So affordable compared to 8. Better battery life than 7. Certain apps make it overheat. OfferUp and Spotify are suspect... Also certain games. ... show more

I don't like the curved edges. The battery is not amazing. That is where my complaints end. This phone has the most capable camera among any other smartphone today. That is all you need to know.

    • Cannot OEM unlock device
Disclaimer, this device may work well for those who wish to use stock OS, but will not work for custom ROMs. I tried to OEM unlock the device given to be able to install a custom ROM. The option to OEM unlock was greyed out. I updated the system to the latest version, as that is a known problem with pixel 6a, and factory resetting. This did not work. After ~4 hours of updating and searching online, found a command using adb "adb shell getprop" which showed in it's list of properties "[sys.oem_unlock_allowed]: [0]". A 1 means it can be unlocked, a 0 means it cannot be. Which gives further proof the device given to me cannot be OEM unlocked, and thus is not factory unlocked. ... show more
