    • Deceptive description about battery life
They are rated for a 10 year life however the devices sent to me were manufactured in 2020 and that’s only had five years of battery. Life left. Ridiculous for them to be trying to get rid of older product.

One of the devices I received was made in 2016 and the other in 2018. The devices are programmed to stop working at 10 years (beep that cannot be suppressed and audible message that the sensors failed) so less than 1 year and less than 3 years life left. As others have mentioned, they don’t have a full 10 years left. The one I received had 5 years remaining, but I’m good with that to let Google figure out their next solution. Smooth integration into our existing home monitoring setup.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Bought to replace an existing Nest detector, that needed to be replaced because of age. I think it's great. Google-Nest may stop manufacturing them - research this further. Connectivity: Work with Nest-Home.

So many things wrong with the smoke alarm that it's difficult to evaluate. I was replacing the exact unit with this one. Besides being outrageously expensive it was outdated. The units all have an expiration date 10 years from manufacturing and the unit turns itself off. We paid full price for a smoke detector that will only last a few years. We were replacing an older unit with a new one. Seemed simple enough, we'll no. The installation instructions were difficult to follow.
