  • Modulation effect fun
Color: Blue
First, to get it out of the way, this pedal is built just as well as the other GOKKO pedals I own. It's lightweight for its size, the knobs and switches are quality, and the inputs hold cables securely. What's more interesting is what this pedal does. You get 8 different modulation effects, all of which are very pronounced. If you are looking to create an ambiance with reverb, this pedal will do it for you. You have to crank the mix (on the effects where you have a mix option) down pretty far to just add flavor to your tone. I have found the tremolo verb and flanger verb blend in well with the mix set pretty low. With those settings, it can be an "always on" tone pedal. I think the primary use of this pedal is for full-on modulation effects for songs that call for it. Each effect option switches up what the knobs do. Luckily, GOKKO had the foresight to print a cheat sheet on the bottom of the pedal. It's there if you need it. It's pretty small lettering, so I recommend hanging on to the paper copy of the settings that comes in the box. You can hold that at eye level while you are playing with settings. I'm sure I'll lose that piece of paper at some point, so I do appreciate that the pedal has that info directly on it. This is a fun reverb pedal. Most of the effects play well with distortion and other pedals. GOKKO makes great pedals. This is no exception. ... show more

Something I never thought I'd say at the start of a Reverb pedal review: I love the Tremolo on this pedal! If that were the only function I’d recommend it. It’s got that slow metallic throb that’s surprising hard for many dedicated pedals to pull off. I also like the quirky Flanger Verb, and Phase Vibrato Verb (definitely a mouthful) which really give a strong hint of a Mutron. Unfortunately the Long and Spring Reverbs are by and large are unimpressive. The parameter knobs don’t do much and the core algorithms are nowhere near quality reverb pedals I own. I have to mention the undocumented setting (at least undocumented in the instructions, it’s right there on the knob, “Octave Echo”. The octave is high rather than low, and turning the knob is the equivalent of a keyboard pitch wheel. I don’t think I have a similar effect in another pedal and it’s really cool. It won’t turn your guitar into a mandolin but it can give more of a twelve string vibe if you’re patient with the settings. Bottom Line: Mixed bag, some great sounds in here (especially the Tremolo for me). If you’re serious about reverb (pre-delay, realistic room scaling) this pedal will probably disappoint. But for the adventurous among us, you may find at least a few sounds you really enjoy. ... show more
