This is my very first *real* airbrush kit. I've got one from the 60's that uses compressed canned air, but this is a whole different beast. I've only ever painted using stencils in the past, but wanted to get into painting toys and diecast cars. Getting this put together and ready to spray was very easy. If you've ever put anything together, this is pretty much plug and play. Cleaning....Had to look up a video for it....Usage...had to look up a video. Haha Figuring out the right amount of pressure to use to get an even coat of paint took quite a bit of practice. I was able to get satisfying results after about an hour on some particle board. I also learned that you DEFINITELY want to use thinners with your paints because you can run out pretty quick if you aren't careful. They didn't dilute the color much, and I saved a lot of paint. Out of the box you get the air compressor, air brush, and a cleaning kit. Everything seems to be pretty decent quality. I kinda wish it came with some more filters and some plastic cups, though. My first real project is adding some blood to an old broken kid's toy I found a while back. I'd always wanted to do something with it, and using the airbrush seemed to be a pretty solid idea. After spraying, I went over it with a sponge to give it some texture. I think it turned out great. I have lots of ideas for customs, and this is going to be a fantastic tool for my future projects.     • Great budget airbrush
My previous experience with airbrushing was using a cheap Testor propellant-driven airbrush used on a couple of airplane models, so this was definitely an upgrade for me. It had been almost a decade since my last model build, and I was not sure if this was going to hold my interest again long enough to justify the outlay of several hundred dollars for a professional airbrush. This complete airbrush kit was under $60 and I figured it was a low enough investment not to worry about it if it did not meet my needs. Let me state that my previous Testor airbrush did not use needles and had a fixed nozzle and could not be taken apart, and was mostly made from cheap plastic, so compared to it the Gosheer airbrush felt like a major upgrade! It came in a nice sturdy box with extra needles and nozzles of different diameters as well as cleaning tools and a cute little tabletop compressor with a matching air hose. It also included a breakout diagram of the airbrush components, but absolutely no instructions on use or cleaning. But not to worry, a few YouTube videos later, I was ready to take the plunge, and here are my observations and recommendations after several sessions of use: First, don't bother trying to use anything but the highest pressure setting. While the Amazon description states that the compressor is capable of 25 PSI, I kind of doubt that, and as any lower setting results in very poor paint atomization. Second, it will not work well, if at all, if the paint is not thinned to at least 60%, probably related to the first point. Third, you really need to clean the airbrush very thoroughly with either water for acrylics or the appropriate airbrush cleaner for other types of paint after every use. This is super important! Pour a little of the appropriate cleaner into the cup, swirl then dump. Once the fluid becomes clear, turn on the compressor and spray for a few seconds to clear the nozzle, then dry the inside of the cup with a Qtip. Make sure to unscrew the nozzle from the front and clean the inside of it as well with a Qtip and the cleaning tools provided. From time to time, you might also want to remove the needle and clean it as well, which is done by unscrewing the back of the airbrush and sliding the needle out. Following these simple instructions, my airbrush has been working flawlessly and I could not be happier with it. At some point, I will probably want to upgrade to a more professional airbrush, but so far I have not had any pressing need as I am only an amateur model builder at best. ... show more

First off, I tried a few of these lower cost air brushes and none worked. I use the army painter primer and I was diluting it with thinner at a 1:1 ratio and still getting clogs. This one doesn't clog very much. Same primer, maybe a couple drops of thinner and I'm good to go. The stream is controlled by how far I pull back on the trigger, but that's enough. I love the even spray and how smooth this looks compared to the rattle can that I usually use. I'm super pleased! ... show more

I was super excited to get this product for miniature painting. I decided to try this as an entry level experience for zenithal highlighting and some minor color work. The packaging was nice and clean, but the instructions were bare bones - only providing a schematic of the airbrush and a brief summary of the compressor. No where did it discuss how to dismantle and clean the airbrush or how to accurately gauge the air pressure on the compressor (a single dial but no readout for how much PSI). When I opened the box for the airbrush there was a .3 needle in there and I noticed it already had a bend to it. I opened up the backing to pull out the needle to inspect it and it was definitely bent as see in the photo. Not only that, but when I went to twist off the nozzle, the shaft on it broke off into the airbrush itself, rendering the airbrush completely useless. So now I'm stuck with 1 of the 3 needles busted and a totally defective airbrush. I was looking forward to it all day and got my area prepped for airbrushing and had a few minis primed to test it out. So I'm pretty bummed about the state of the product on day 1. Amazon customer service was responsive and sent out a replacement, so that much I do appreciate. I'll update this review if the replacement warrants a change in score, but the first impression stands at 1 star. While I realize this is an entry level airbrush, that doesn't mean you should be shipped a defective item. ... show more
