  • Great project. Works really well. Easy assembly. Great directions.
This is great! We have a robotics / maker space / building week at summer camp and we tried a lot of different activiites...one of the kids was really drawn to this activity and did great! It took him two days to complete and the directions were perfect. He had so much fun and he also was the talk of the classroom. The assembly was easy, and everything works perfectly. The little flappers didn't have a lot of spring to them, but his dad said they would work on a different system at home to make them more powerful. The pieces punched out of the template easily and went together very well. Colors are bright. Great value for the money. Would make a great gift. ... show more

  • Fun STEM Project That Brings Building and Play Together
This DIY pinball machine kit is a great combination of hands-on building and classic arcade fun. Putting it together is an enjoyable project that encourages problem-solving, patience, and creativity, and watching the finished machine come to life is incredibly satisfying. The wooden components fit together well, although I would say the boards are on the thin side and care needs to be taken when placing tabs together. Even so, it is nice that the completed pinball game is genuinely fun to play rather than just something that sits on a shelf. It is a great activity for kids who enjoy building, tinkering, or learning how simple mechanical systems work. Overall, this is an engaging STEM kit that blends education and entertainment into a project the whole family can enjoy. ... show more

  • Fun Build and Even More Fun to Play
This was a fun project to build and even more fun to play afterward. The wooden pieces fit together well, and assembling it gave my child a chance to practice patience and problem-solving. Once finished, the pinball game actually works surprisingly well, with responsive flippers and enough obstacles to keep it interesting. It’s a nice mix of a STEM activity and a toy, making it something kids can enjoy long after the assembly is done. Great for older kids who like building as much as playing. ... show more

  • Great and creative concept
Overall, this is such a fun and creative concept. It not only gives your child/ren an activity that uses their minds and hands, honing in on those wonderful, fine and gross motor skills but it also gives them a fun game to play with after! The set up took my 15 year old about 1 1/2 to 2 hours which was great time away from electronics. Now the bad: I would never pay the original $40 price tag for this. The current sale price of $30 (currently there's a coupon to get it in the $20 range) is much more reasonable. The reason of why this is overpriced is due to the flimsier materials. My child took their time putting this together and was very gentle but the plastic piece on the side of where the ball drops out easily cracked (refer to photo). The wood and contraption itself is flimsy as well. I have to hold it gently down with my left hand then carefully pull the lever towards me with my right hand to be able to launch the ball (then after the ball is launched, I can't get to the side levers to keep the ball going because Im holding the machine down with my left hand). Speaking of which, the marbles are kind if a waist and never seem to launch properly. I would suggest to only use the two metal balls that are included and let your kids play with the marbles (as long as they are old enough to realize they are a choking hazard). There are little "pegs" that you can add into the three slots on the top right of the pinball machine to add up points as you make them. Overall, this is a very good concept but the price tag is too high and this should come with either sturdier materials or at least a small container of wood glue to better secure it together (and just add into the instructions not to add the glue to any moveable parts). ... show more

  • Great birthday gift for a 9 year old
This proved to be a great gift for my 9 year old nephew. He has recently started to enjoy building things and this basically not only allowed him to build something that he could be proud of but also to enjoy the pinball machine that he built. I love this because it actually teaches him to 1. follow instructions 2. be meticulous about details 3. see how things work 4. foster his curiosity 5. and keeps him quiet and focused. All good things. There were some areas that he needed some minor assistance with but for the most part, he was able to build it himself. Totally recommend. ... show more

  • Creative STEM project with a few delicate moments
This DIY pinball kit is a genuinely fun little STEM project - part engineering puzzle, part arcade nostalgia. Once it’s built, the finished machine has good quality for a wooden toy and the gameplay is surprisingly satisfying for something you assemble yourself. A heads‑up, though: some of the laser‑cut pieces take a bit of coaxing to separate from the boards. Nothing impossible, but it does require a gentle hand and a little patience. The build is still easy overall, but those tighter cuts add a touch of difficulty that younger kids may need help with. As a learning tool, it’s nicely educational, showing how mechanical components interact while still feeling like a toy rather than homework. And for the price, the value is solid - you get a hands‑on project, a working pinball machine, and a fun activity to share. ... show more

  • Very fun for kids to build the first time, but a bit skeptical about relatability.
This pinball machine kit is great for kids that are into assembling toys, something akin to Legos, toy models, or Gundam figures. The wooden sheets themselves are laser cut and the parts are pretty easy to pop out, but there are quite a few small pieces that are easy to get lost so keep that in mind when purchasing for your child. I would say the recommended 8 years age is reasonable but they would definitely need some supervision on some parts. The instructions are pretty clear and straightforward. I like that it comes in a pretty compact box with everything you need included, so no extra parts required. This gets kids engaged in something physical and material which is a nice alternative to the internet and screens. I also like that it’s just purely mechanical and no batteries are necessary. Once assembled, the entire pinball machine isn’t huge but there’s a lot of functionality in it, some parts spin, some use resistance, some launch pieces upwards to score “points”. It’s definitely more of a toy than an actual learning experience since there’s no explanations of the mechanisms involved. It’s just piecing together parts. At full retail of $40, I would say it’s a bit too expensive but when there’s a $10 off coupon to bring it down to $30, I think it makes more sense. I’d recommend it for parents with kids that like assembling things and mechanical parts. ... show more

  • Engaging build for young engineers!
I bought the GobiDex DIY Pinball Machine Kit for my 10-year-old son, who is my little mini engineer, and it was a big hit! The kit was a fun and engaging build for him, and he really enjoyed the hands-on process of putting it together. It’s a great STEM-style activity that kept him interested from start to finish. Considering how many builds he does, I have to highlight that this one was one of his favorites! I was also impressed with the durability of the wooden pieces and the overall construction once assembled. It feels sturdy enough to hold up to regular play, which is a big plus. My son didn’t just enjoy building it, he has continued to have fun actually playing with the pinball machine afterward. It’s a great combination of creativity, learning, and entertainment. I would definitely recommend it as a gift for kids who enjoy building projects and arcade-style games! ... show more
