  • The ultimate power station is a beast
Style: Yeti 4000
I don't write many product reviews, but the GZ Yeti PRO 4000 has really impressed me. I was looking for a power station to back my home, run my 30' travel trailer, and power the occasional backyard movie. I researched a few other brands and ended up going with Goal Zero. I always had good luck with other Goal Zero products and have used the Yeti 500X all the time. I called their customer service team before I made this purchase and was super impressed. They are in the U.S. and know the product inside and out and walked me through a few different options to power my home with the Yeti PRO 4000. I ended up going with 2 Yeti PRO 4000s and 2 of their Haven 10s which I tied into my main circuit panels. I love this setup. Here are few observations on the Yeti now that it's setup: - It has a solid aluminum case where all the others I looked at were made of plastic. - It has the highest rated battery cycles I can find. The 4000 cycles mean I could use the battery every single day and it will last almost 11 years before the battery degrades to the point it only holds 80% of the original capacity. - It comes with a mobile cart that it locks into but can be removed. I haven't done it yet, but I am going to pick up the Goal Zero mounting plate. I can pop the Yeti off the cart and lock it into mounting plate so it won't move and can't be taken. I can pop it back on the cart when I take it camping. - The solar recharge time is crazy fast. It can handle all 2000 watts of portable solar that I have, but it can handle up to 3000 watts which is more than any of the other large models I looked at. Most can only handle 1600 watts of solar at once. - I have both of my Yeti PROs hooked up to 30amp plugs in my house it charges them from zero to full in less than 90 minutes. - A couple other things that I haven't put to the test, but I like are that they say it's MilSpec 810 and UL rated so it can handle minor drops, vibrations, and even some light rain. - At some point, I will buy Yeti PRO expansion tanks to add more capacity. That's another thing that puts the Yeti PRO above the others I considered. The Yeti PRO can integrate up to 4 expansion tanks, while the others I looked at can only handle 2. - I hooked up both Yeti PROs to the Goal Zero App on my iPhone. The App is pretty intuitive. It does the basics in terms of showing me the power in, out, battery level, and time to charge/empty. I can switch back and forth between both systems since I have 2 Yeti PROs. My favorite feature is the ability to set a battery profile to make the battery last even longer. I also noticed the Goal Zero App has higher ratings than the other power station options I considered. - I haven't had a chance to take my travel trailer camping since it's the winter, but I did test it out in my driveway. I plugged the shore-power cable into the 30amp outlet on the Yeti PRO. The Yeti's 3600-watt inverter powered the entire camper! I even turned on the air-conditioner and the microwave at the same time with no problem. - The last thing to mention is the cut-over time when the power goes out. After setting up both Yeti PROs with Goal Zero Haven 10s (these are Goal Zero's optional transfer switches that tie the Yetis into my circuit panels), we simulated a power outage by cutting the main breaker outside my house. After the first test, I thought something was wrong because nothing appeared to happen in the house. After flipping the grid power on/off a couple times, I noticed the Yeti showed power output when the grid power was out. The Yeti literally took over powering those circuits so fast that my wife and kids watching TV didn't even notice. The Wi-Fi and TV didn't even blink! We did notice that some overhead LED lights blinked for less than a second when I cut the grid power, but none of the appliances even knew we lost power. The only downside I can find is the weight. It's has 4000-watt hours of battery and the pro grade metal case, so it's not light. At a bit more than100lbs, you'll probably want to use the cart or grab a friend if you are moving it more than a few feet. I am very happy with my setup. The Yeti PRO is a beast. I would recommend also recommend the Goal Zero Haven 10 if you want to tie the Yeti into your home circuits. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY!!!
Style: Yeti 4000
Why did you pick this product vs others?: DO NOT BUY!!! They do not have a customer service department anymore - Yeti Pro 4000 doesn't work. Won't hold charge no help - wasted money. Biolite purchased them in April and after waiting on hold multiple times and emailing never heard back from anyone. Ever. ... show more

  • Better than expected!
Style: Yeti 4000
I bought this to replace my Yeti 3000X and 4 circuit manual transfer switch, which are both great, but I wanted to be able to backup more circuits and have the ability to have automatic transferring during a power outage. This thing is an absolute beast of a product. After getting it all installed I was able to run all my circuits in passthrough where my power is running through the unit up to 3600 watts. I simulated a power outage by cutting the power and I didn’t even notice it switched over to pulling from the battery. Even my WiFi stayed on. Usually it shuts down and has to reset if there’s even a flicker in the power. I’ve run every test I know to run, from the new app, to adjusting all the settings to connecting it to my cloud network so I can access it remotely and its incredible! I’m super excited that I will also be able to use this in my RV and it’ll run everything, even my AC. I can now retire the old gas generator and use this unit exclusively. Other cool thing is I can use this to charge my Tesla or any EV for that matter in a pinch. This unit will have so many uses, I can’t even count. ... show more

  • Product is fine, Customer Service sucks!.... Well maybe not...
Style: Yeti 4000
First, I want to say the product(s) are fine. No complaints. I am giving this one star based on Goal Zero's customer service, or lack of it. I ordered a Yeti 4000 + a drivable kit. You need to know Goal Zero was purchased by Biolite. They've moved their warehouse and customer service from Utah to California. In order to get my order fulfilled, I had to make 4 calls to Gold Zero's customer service, each time they told me it was out of their hands as it was fulfillment by Amazon. I made 4 calls to Amazon who told me it was fulfillment by the seller. After two weeks, I finally got the Yeti 4000, but it took two more calls to Amazon and Gold Zero to get the Drivable Kit. Again, I have used Goal Zero for years and have always been happy with their products, but since the buyout, their customer service totally sucks. :) A month Later: Goal Zero read my review and reached out to me and helped me resolve an issue with this order which was Amazon's fault. So.. my opinion of their customer service greatly improved. I have the Yeti 4000 connected to 400W of solar on the top of my Promaster van, running a 12V refrigerator. With only about 2 hours of direct sunlight, the fridge has been running non-stop for about 3 weeks... Love it. ... show more

  • A charge for my Tesla during a power outage
Style: Yeti 4000
When an unexpected power outage hit my area, I found myself in a bit of a predicament. My Tesla was low on charge, and the closest tesla charging station was too far away - I was stranded! Thankfully I had a Yeti PRO 4000, a powerstation that got me out of a pinch with a quick charge. When the power came back on, I was able to get to recharge the battery from the wall in about 2-3 hours. Although I haven't needed to expand yet, the potential for up to 20 kWh of power is intriguing. I’m super interested in the Haven ecosystem and the Nomad 400 solar panels Goal Zero just released. Goal Zero products are always top notch. It’s kind of like having a mac vs a PC. Sure…there might be something out there for a better price…but when you have a battery this big in your home, you need the best quality. Goal Zero builds the best quality products – love this brand! ... show more
