    • Drill bit?
This fit pretty close to perfect on a 2016 Colorado extended cab. The drill bit size it calls for you to use does’t exist in any hardware store around here. I would have had to order one. If you are going to do that, just include one in there. The compression rivets don’t work. If you can’t reach the bottom side of your bed rail, better plan for that. I was able to use a magnet extension from under the truck to hold the nut to the bottom while my son thread the bolt into it. If not for that, this wouldn’t have worked for this truck.     • Threaded inserts won't work. Have to use a real threaded insert tool.
Everything was fine except for the provided threaded inserts. No way those work. Had to use the proper tool for installing inserts.

This bar is only listed by the manufacturer as fitting the Toyota, Chevy and GMC but I can confirm that it does also fit the 2018 and like Nissan Frontier. I did not have to use the rivnuts that everyone mentions having trouble with because my holes came out inside the bed. I was able to buy longer bolts and use conventional nuts. Four stars because the fit of all of the individual pieces could be better. When tightened there are small gaps between the bends and the straight pieces. Also when I first put the bar together on my bench I found that the rear was about 2 inches narrower than the front. After all of the adjusting that I could manage it is still about an inch different. Since the bases have slotted holes this does not prevent mounting on the truck and you really don't notice these issues once it is on. ... show more

    • You do have to drill into the bed rails, as stated by the manufacturer.
The assembly wasn't too bad. There are about 10 pieces. For sure, leave the bolts only hand tightened until you mount it to the bed. It is wholly positively adjustable at that point, to mark the drill holes. I purchased extra strength farm equipment bolts #8. 3" long, 2" bolts might work better. Along with washers and lock nuts. On my 2011 Toyota Tacoma, I was able to remove the 2 side bed storage pockets to access the drill/bolt holes. It also worked great for tightening the bolts. The side storage pockets are held in place by 2 sided tape strips. So I gently, and evenly worked the side pocket frame back and forth until the strips came loose. The tape remained attached to the bed. Once the bed bar was bolted on and tightened. I applied caulking to the existing double sided tape strips to mount the pockets back in place. I didn't want them too permanent. In case I have to access it again in 2 years to tighten the bolts again. That's why I didn't use a permanent adhesive. ... show more
