  • Great toy for my cat.
My cat loves this teaser and jumps high just to reach it. In the event that she catches the feather, she will not let go and usually the feather toy breaks or come apart. I have some refills in that case but I do wish that the feather part of this toy could last a bit longer.

  • Crazy For Da Bird
So my kitty loves to play. Loves. He gets a little rough about it because he just doesn't know any better. We bought a bunch of toys when we got him and he loved some for a wile, then forgot abut them. Or vice versa - the ones he didn't show interest in at first suddenly became exciting. He loves his little catnip mice the most but they keep disappearing under the appliances. I did a little browsing online, looking for something to distract his attention away from our bodies, tire him out so he would sleep at night and keep him interested. I found Da Bird. Da Bird seems like a simple concept: a flexible metal rod encased in plastic, a connecting elastic-y string with attached feathers. It may almost be too simply because it seems like we spend a lot of time looking for more complex toys that our pets ignore. The feather attachment is replaceable and the feathers themselves are real and arranged in such a way that they have the aerodynamic appearance of a bird in motion. Phantom just loves it. He is already active but this thing gets his attention and keeps it. He is doing jumps and flips and somersaults. He even did a back flip from the floor onto the chair chasing this thing. I play that he has to catch it so I cannot immediately pull it back up to 5 times. I think I overdid it the first day; we played to 20 and he slept the rest of the day, something he has never done. So, as a toy that will attract a cat rather than our hands and tire him out, this is great. If you have a cat who plays during the night, a round before bed might be just what the vet ordered. As others had said it quickly needs to be replaced, I tucked it away in the closet when we weren't playing. My kitty didn't freak out when I went to open the door but as soon as he would see me bring it out, he would get excited. It seemed like every time we used it, he liked it even more. I was actually a little disappointed the first time but, after that, Phantom really liked it more. It got to the point where he would catch Da Bird and I would just let him run off with it because I could not pull it free. However, after letting him do this, he managed to break off the bird and I will have to replace the whole unit which isn't a huge deal but it something I will watch for next time. Da Bird doesn't take a look of effort from you, but you will need to swing it around so it catches the air. However, it's very light weight so it definitely will tire the kitty out before you. Don't be surprised if your DaBird starts looking pretty tired itself. With how much the cat swats and bites at it, the feathers start looking pretty gross. This is a downfall to us because, now that he has broken off the feathers, he continues to play with the feathers and brings them in bed with us. Ick. At least he likes it. And that was really the whole point. I think this toy could be a bit durable but, considering that it accomplishes everything I was looking to do, I still give Da Bird Kudos. ... show more

  • Play Time With Your Cat
This is a truly enticing cat toy. My cat engages with this as if hunting. Let your cat "capture" its prey sometimes in order to emulate real life. Reward with a treat, just like in the wild. The movement of this toy flutters just like real birds. And the feathers are cat irresistible. Toy quality: Well made. Replaceable feather clusters too. ... show more

  • Great Cat Toy
Well made and strong. Flies around like a bird through the air, really catching the cat's attention. At first my cat went nuts jumping after it, and as she got used to it, it takes a little more effort to keep her interest. Though her eyes will stay riveted to it, she's not a spring chicken, and I have a lot of wood flooring, so she just won't go crazy jumping all over for it, but I think younger cats would! Only negative is that the pole is very long and not adjustable, and the string is also long, so it flies in a very wide circumference and cats need open space to chase it, so you need a big space to use it. Not great for smaller apartments. You can hold the pole me dway, which helps, but still an issue. I wish it had a smaller version or at least adjustable pole. Really well- thought out cat toy! ... show more

  • Kitties love them
Love these. They are too expensive, in my opinion. But kitties love them, so we splurge every once in a while.

  • This teaser toy is the only one my cat has begged for for weeks!
Update: I was so happy to have found this wand and toy, but I have since bought a replacement bird and a second wand and bird from Go Kat and neither of those two birds have had the same robustness that made the first one so great. The replacement bird I bought (Da Bird Feather Super Refill) was quite flat and narrow compared to the first one that came with this wand, which made the great whooshing flying sound. The second wand and bird was also flat and silent. I'm now looking elsewhere for bird refills that replicate the qualities he likes. Disappointing. I'm lowering my rating from 5 to 4. Maybe your cat won't miss the sound. -----Original Review Below----- I have a 6 month Maine Coon Kitten who is VERY playful. He's been driving me crazy wanting to play, but he gets bored quickly and I have been buying a lot of toys. This is by FAR the best! He has only wanted to play with this ever since I got it (which is giving the other toys a great refresh if he ever tires of this). The wand is longer and springier than any other wand I've purchased. The length and bounce make it easier for me to play with him, especially given his size, and promotes more exercise from him. He LOVES the sound of the feathers when I make it move quickly. The string is excellent and durable, though it is taking some wear with extended play (he has started trying to bite the string and the feather head). Other teaser toys will go on this wand, as well because it has a fishing-line type clip. The feathers: there's quite a bit of talk about the feathers. The "da bird" that came with this wand has lasted very well, considering we've had it for about a month and he plays with it constantly. I need to replace it now, but I definitely have no complaints about the durability of this toy, especially in comparison to other wand toys I've bought. This bird does not seem especially dangerous to me. Some of the feathers are spotted and firm, and some are colored and soft. I'm not sure whether the replacement "Da Birds" will be different or not. The softer feathered fliers we have tried did not fly this well, nor make the great flying sound he loves. It is possible that the quill of any firm feather could hurt a cat, but none of the feathers have come out or poked my cat. I only let him play with it while I am playing with him. It IS possible to poke your cat by mistake with the cap that holds the feather and connects to the string, especially if you are making the bird fly fast, but that would be true of any feather-cap toy arrangement. (He accepted my apology and resumed play.) I am SO grateful to the makers of this fine toy! ... show more

  • Well worth the money
My cats absolutely love love love this wand! It seems to flutter like a bird also. Encourages jumping & helps with the zoomies.
