    • Test out a drone without the expensive commitment
The media could not be loaded. I was not expecting a miracle with this drone. Basically, I was just looking to see if adding a drone to my video/photography arsenal was going to help me make more interesting compositions and compel me to invest in a more expensive drone. This didn't help in my decision making at all. For one thing, the size is great. I had owned an earlier DJI drone and while I loved the video capture, it was so big and such a burden to transport. This drone is perfect for just stuffing into your bag and you can easily pull it out and get a birds eye view of what's around you. There's no need to register because it's super tiny which opens up a world of interesting photography/videography options. The case, while not perfect, does have dedicated cutouts for the drone and controller. All of the other accessories just flop around in the loose netting and fall out regularly. The other aspects of this drone are where things begin to fall apart completely. The controller feels like a cheap RC car remote and it connects to the drone maybe 40% of the time. When it doesn't connect to the remote, you can control the drone with your phone but that makes it even more difficult to maneuver. Also, this drone's flight is very temperamental. Most of the times, you have to actively control this thing just to keep it hovering. Other drones will operate in hover mode without you doing anything. This one hovered correctly once. Other times, it just plummets to the ground or sways from side to side without any wind. Because of how erratic it feels to operate, I've not really gotten in to fly higher than maybe 20 feet up. I don't like that I have to keep allowing this drone to connect to my local network to use it. It feels a bit shady and I always make sure to disable that feature when I'm not flying. The drone is loud, as I think most drones are. Everyone can definitely hear that you are flying one so be prepared for people to look at you and possibly want to talk to you about it. Lastly, the video on this is atrocious! It's very choppy and the quality is definitely not 1080p but what can I really expect for something under $100. Also, I cannot seem to control the camera so the only video I get is just what's straight ahead. So, I have not decided on whether or not I will be a drone person. The convenience of having such a small and transportable device is great but I was unable to enjoy the ease of use and video quality that I would have gotten with a more expensive drone. ... show more

    • Missed the mark...hard to operate.
I didn't expect a $100 drone to come close to a Mavic, but this thing barely comes close to a Tello. Opening the box, it was super light weight, and not in a good way. The materials feel like they were 3D printed with minimal structural integrity. Everything is very flexy and clunky. Out of the 4 Propellor Guards, 3 of them arrived broken. The remote is built like the drone...with very little quality feel. Charged up all 3 batteries, put fresh AA's in the remote and powered everything up...or at least I tried. The drone took about 15 tries before successfully powering up. the power button is located on top, and every time you press it, the entire copter flexes at the legs making you think it's about to break. Once powered up, it flies for about 7 minutes before calling it quits. When you download the app, you gat a "This app may be dangerous to your phone" notice, so I didn't even bother to try it out. Flying with the remote is standard fair, just keep the drone within your line of sight. If you can't see it, the RF signal can't either. The responses from the drone were sluggish and slow. I dared not take this above 3- or 40 feet in height, and kept it within the confines of my yard...about 100' in distance. I can't speak for the video or picture quality as neither of them seemed to function when I wanted them to. This may be a great little drone for someone to cut their teeth on, or learn to fly with only risking a minimum investment, but it's still $100, and it's getting harder to justify spending that kind of coin on ... show more

    • Very durable!
The media could not be loaded. The good: charges quickly, two ways to control it, includes case with extra parts, has instructions, durable The bad: camera quality is poor, wifi is unreliable, struggles in wind If you're just looking for a cheap drone and don't care about the camera then this is fine. Using the controller is easy and the handheld controller range seems to be better than the wifi range. The wifi mode—which requires installing an app on your phone—is pretty clunky and has a relatively short range. I flew this around at perhaps ten feet for a bit to test it out, then took it above the trees to see how it did with some light winds. It's important to note that the drone has three speed controls. On low, the wind will blow you away. However, if you turn it up to high then the drone can overcome light winds with a bit of effort. Using the controller was issue-free. However, I wanted to test out the camera so I connected via the app. This worked fine for a little bit, but the wifi cut out and eventually, the drone started to blow away. On the plus side, it didn't instantly drop. However, it did slowly lower itself toward the ground (while still being blown by the wind). This resulted in the drone crashing into a tree and falling maybe 25 feet onto the pavement. Despite not having bothered to use the blade protectors, the drone was perfectly fine so I continued to fly it until the battery died. Realistically, battery life is 15-24 minutes with three batteries (depending on which speed you set it to). The camera quality, while technically 1080p, is pretty bad. Also, you seem to have to choose between using the controller or the app: they don't work together very well, which sort of ruins the point of the camera. Overall, I'd recommend this to someone who doesn't care about the camera and just wants a simple drone to mess around and learn with before upgrading to a more high-end model. ... show more
