  • Decent instrument, wrong strings
Color: 4/4
I like it, good for the price but the tuner came without a battery and the strings they gave me were for a 3/4th not a 4/4

  • Love it!!!
The violin arrived in time in a box inside of a box (in case of course!) to ensure safe traveling. I especially like the varnish color! It is very beautiful with dark and light highlights. The case was nice and sturdy with a compartment inside for the rosin and tuner and the front pouch for instructions and other items. Comes with tuner, bow, case, cheat stickers, rosin, bridge,(not installed yet so that it does not damage the violin while traveling)shoulder rest, and instructions. Overall this is a nice violin for the price and recommended for beginners. The only thing was that I ordered a 3/4 and it gave me a shoulder rest for a 4/4. Which did not truly matter to me because I was not planning to use it. MUSIC TEACHER RECOMMENDED! ... show more

  • Absolute garbage.
Color: 4/4
This is absolutely garbage! I cannot even believe they sell this as a real instrument. It comes without the bridge installed, so when I install the bridge it just slides around for one. There's nothing to actually hold it into place. When you try to tune it, it collapses the bridge, and you can't tune it because when you pull the strings too tight the tuning pegs just turn back and loosen it up again. This is unbelievable. I thought how bad can it be ? But I never even imagined that you could not actually tune it so that you can play it. I'm a guitar player and I know how to tune an instrument, but this doesn't even deserve to be called an instrument. Just something pretty to hang on your wall I suppose. Definitely returning it. ... show more

  • It Works
So, for anyone familiar with violins, this definitely isn't something you'd want if you're wanting "the best." This is definitely for beginners and will also teach you some fundamentals in setting up your violin. It doesn't have the best sound and will sometimes come out of tune, but it's something that would be great, still, for the beginner. Still has decent enough sound and won't cost an arm and a leg. ... show more

  • Ignore the One Star and Five Star Reviews
Let me start by saying I don't know much about violins but I will leave my impressions anyway. This is a budget instrument made of inferior materials. That is to be expected for only $70. As for some criticisms in the 1 star reviews. The unfinished neck is not a flaw. That is done for playability reasons as if the back of the neck was varnished like the rest of the instrument, it get somewhat sticky . The lack of finish allows smoother movement up and down the neck. This is a tuneable instrument. The tuners may need to be pushed in further as mine arrived a little loose. After I pushed them in tightly, I was able to tune the instrument. I'm not sure how long it will stay in tune but it can be tuned. However, the tuner that came with the violin did not come with a battery. I tuned the violin by finding a tuning video on YT. In disadvantage to buying a budget violin on line is that you have to pay someone to set it up or learn how to do so yourself. The bridge did not come installed and the instructions to do so are not great. You Tube (Olaf the Violinmaker) to the rescue again. In summary, this is not the.piece of garbage some claim it to be and it is in no way a gone instrument either. I have no experience with other budget violins so I don't know how this compares. All I can say is that you can try it and have the player's teacher give it a once over to determine if it is a viable instrument. ... show more

  • Wall worthy, maybe in an outhouse.
Color: 4/4
Absolutely valueless. Particle board construction, incomplete paintwork, writing on the fretboard, will not stay in tune, pegs/holes not snug fitting. Bow was too weak to tighten. Even the tuner was missing. For the love of God, don't destroy a students dreams by giving this. I have requested a refund. ... show more

  • Takes some patience but it does actually work well
This violin setup isn't a take it out the box and start playing type of piece and it's not a expensive one either. I had my expectations low from reading some things but after some time I finally got mine to sound like a violin and work pretty good. Out the box you are responsible for installing and notching the bridge along with getting the strings placed correctly and tuned. You are also tasked with making sure your box is taut enough and well rosined. Miss one of those key steps and you will get no sound. I love that the package includes everything from the case to the rosin down to the tuner. There are also some extra strings which might be helpful to some that might stretch it out. The violin itself is made from some very light wood and stained rather loosely but it's fully covered and the clear coat covers every inch of wood as well. The biggest issue is the knobs where you tune the violin. These knobs don't stay inside the holes very well causing some frustration until you finally get it locked in place. All in all I'd recommend this item to a youth that's wanting to learn how to play. I think there are several learning opportunities packed inside this case from the bridge you have to make to the tuning and sensitive strings that should tech some patience. Great item ... show more
