For the price I am really pleased with this saxophone. I haven't touched a sax in about 10 years, and haven't performed in 16. Picking up this instrument at this price was incredible! I did get a different mouth piece, reeds, and a neck strap, but otherwise everything needed was in this kit! It sounds pretty good too! I am sure if you spend 10x what this one cost it should sound better, but for my purposes of occasionally playing and relearning an instrument I used to love, this is perfect! ... show more

IMHO, our's arrived fine & playable. We could either rent one for ~$40/month or buy this one for ~$200. Edit: TWO of the pads have fallen off after light use. Could have bought a stick of shellac & glued it back on, but the local music store charged ~$20 to fix them. Edit 2: after almost three years of light use, it now needs $70 worth of repairs (one of the keys fell off or something), so we're just going to give it away to someone who wants to refurb it or use it for parts. finish has held up well, but we've had problems with the pads falling off on 2-3 occasions. we probably have $50 into that alone. we're going to end up getting a used jupiter or yamaha to replace it. hard to decide what's better (spending more to buy a name-brand used version or this new one). if they're going to be playing a lot, i'd buy a nice used one. that said, you could buy 2-3 new ones for the price of a nice used one. ... show more

The value is outstanding. No this is not a a professional grade sax but, it is far better than I thought for the price. Quality is really good. Sounds good too. I saw a pro sax player compare this to his super high sax and he was floored. Its not as good but unbelievable for the price. I highly recommend for a beginner. ... show more

I really needed a new saxophone and I am glad to have this instrument. It works pretty well! My other one would clutter when I would push buttons and had massive dents and this thing seemed to do the trick! My only complaint was the mouthpiece. It seemed to have been made of soft plastic, so I just use my other saxophone's mouthpiece. Really great product! Came with everything! No damages! Five star! ... show more

I really liked this sax and it plays really well! So glad I got this instead of spending all that money on a yamaha! I used it as a beginner and love it! It has a bit of trouble playing "g" but it could just be me

    • MUST BUY FOR BEGINER SAX PLAYERS
I gave this Glory Alto Saxophone a 4 star rating, even though I DO think it is a must buy for starting Alto Sax players who need an instrument, this review has nothing to do with the saxophone it self, amazing starter as I said. The only things that I disliked were 1) the mouthpiece, I would definitely save yourself time and purchase a Yamaha mouthpiece along with this instrument(including a new ligature the one provided is even more garbage than the mouthpiece itself, also a cap if you want, not to important though) my experience with the mouthpiece is that is feels as though it's made from pvc plastic, and when I started to play after 15 min or so I felt small strands coming off the tip, BIG NO No!! 2) the reeds provided are junk and very cheep as well, though they are playable, I recommend better ones of your choice. 3) Mine didn't come with a swab, (not sure if it was supposed to) should always have one!! 4) You can tell that the keys were made very cheep in some spots mostly if you are looking under them(no affect to sound, just looks) though it's still a beautiful instrument for its price. Also going along with that some of the cork padding for the keys was hanging off a bit, no big deal just something to look for. Things I like For the most part I find it plays well. And you get a nice range of accessories in the case, which is very nice. I mostly listed he bad things I saw just because I want anyone who buys this to be aware of the draw backs, but don't let it turn you away it's a very good buy for he price as I said!!! ... show more

About this unit for my daughter for school band. It came I took it out I checked out the entire unit and checked it for sound quality this is the first saxophone I've ever gotten where I did not have to tune it it sounds just as good as I am I other much higher priced ones.
