Set up was easy. The lights were tricky. At first, only 2 out of the 4 worked. The pump is not as quiet as the box claims. Overall it’s a pretty aquarium and my son loves it!

The filter isn't too strong, that's something I was worried about but my Betta enjoys playing in it. Because I made mine a small community tank I went with a short finned Betta. There are 7 neon tetras, 2 otocinclus, 3(?) Snails only one of them was intentional, and my Betta fish Ronny. I'm not going to add anymore fish to the tank and for anyone wondering my Betta is the least aggressive Betta I've ever seen he's a little scaredy cat and I've never seen him flare up. The filter is a little loud but you get used to it and shoving something in between the filter and the glass helps a little. ... show more

    • Good, beware of STRONG filtration system
Everything was good, but it seems as the filter is TO good, be aware getting smaller fish (danios) . We have had three fish in a week get sucked around the filter and die. I would advise getting bigger fish.

For the price this is an OK kit. The tank, lights and included accessories went together pretty simply. Good size to fit on my daughters dresser. Though the decorations we got were different than what was pictured. Having owned several aquariums in the past, I should have known the included filter would be terrible. I tried every trick I knew to do, it just has a constant loud hum and buzz. It looks and feels cheap. I don't believe it was defective, it's just its cost conscious design. Also, even with the water nearly to the top of the tank and in the filter, it loses its prime in a power failure. Always have to pour some in the filter to get it going. If we were away, i am certain it would burn out.Replaced it with another brand and it is way quieter and doesn't lose its prime in power failures. Overall not bad, just be prepared to spend additional money for better filter right off the get go. ... show more

    • Don’t buy this tsnk!
First off, there were missing items (the food and the water treatment) but I had done on hand anyways, it took me all night to set the tank up, and let me say I’ve had fishtanks on my life… The last piece I put into the tank was the fish eater the red light came on for all of about 30 seconds and then went off the heater died within 15 seconds of being plugged in it was completely submerged of course. I contacted Amazon to tell them that I had already transferred my fish and that I have spina bifida and on and unable to return a 16 pound tank that’s already been assembled with my fish in it I have no other way or no other place to put my fish in the meantime . Amazon refused to send me a replacement heater and told me I would have to return the entire tank said just to get one $15 detachable item that would’ve cost them nothing to send me. I’ve been ordering from Amazon for about two years now and I use them often but after having this experience I will never buy anything from them again. These are living creatures it matters when there’s a defective item and they should take care of it immediately without question. A fish tank is a large thing to try and return especially after you’ve already transferred your fish into their new home. I had a smaller heater left over from the tank that they were in before and that is currently in the tank but it’s not enough to heat this new tank that is twice its size. So now I have to go out and purchase another heater on top of the missing food the missing water treatment and the broken heater. I should’ve read the reviews that people said these tanks were outdated and defective but since I bought the glow fish brand before twice before I thought maybe it would be OK. Except looking back now part of the reason I upgraded to this tank was I had the portrait tank which is tall and the inside filtration system started to fall apart and would come apart . He spent $130 on a tank everything should be working. Nowadays sellers not all but many don’t care once an item is sold they do not care if it works or not they do not care if you are happy or not and I find this type of business disgusting. I seriously hope that nobody waste their money on buying this tank. Go to a fish store or a good pet store and get a tank there were they were honor a defective item. I have nothing but regrets after all the work I put in to setting up this tank . ... show more
