    • A Nice Alternative To A Fabric Tree Skirt - Included Lights Are Awful

I had no idea tree collars even existed until about 7 days ago. I really like the idea of hiding the tree stand and not having to clump up a fabric tree skirt to faux hide the tree stand. We all know what that fabric tree stand is hiding. I was one of the people who received lights with their tree collar. I received two strands of lights. I'm not certain why I did not receive three strands because there are three panels, but maybe the person who makes this collar assumes no one looks in the back of the tree so who needs lights back there anyhow. Right? I don't know. I tried (and failed) to follow the diagram for installing the lights that came with the collar. Those lights become tangled almost instantly when they are removed from the package and they are so difficult to pull through the eyeholes that it is not worth the effort. Plus the picture that shows how to install the lights has no numbers or letters or arrows so there was no way to tell where to start and where to end. It was a real goat rodeo. I got one strand of lights halfway installed, switched the button to turn them on, they blinked twice and then went out. Instead I took a strand of LED white lights (200 lights) and wrapped them around the inside base of the collar at the bottom of the stand and it looks great. I am using a tree stand (yes my Christmas tree is already up on November 4th) that is adjustable in both height and width so it was easy to fit it inside the collar. I did notice some of the 'metal' flaking off when I put the screws in. I would not purchase this collar at the full price of $100, but the sale price of $48 is reasonable and I really like the effect and I'm glad I was able to order it. ... show more

Like Goldilocks, the 3rd one was the winner. The first attempt was too wobbly, the 4 pieces didnt fit together nicely, the second was the size of a bathtub. This one was the 3rd tree collar and it was just right. Sections fit together well and size was perfect for my 6' tree. The snowflakes add nice touch. Comments said no lights, but mine did have lights. I would give it a 5, but it was a bit scratched and the box arrived with 4 holes in it. I had planned to paint it a la Mackenzie Childs so I was able to make it work. ... show more

    • Nice alternative to tree skirt

I didn’t know these existed until I had to find an alternative to a tree skirt due to owning a cat that eats fabric (true story). I am using it with a 7ft tall live tree. The downside is that I had to buy a new tree stand that was smaller than my preexisting one in order to fit the collar around it. The other downside is that the branches are quite low on my tree and I had to cut them back so that I could get near enough to the base to water the tree. I also have to leave one side of the panels partly detached so that I can open it up to water. Having said that you can’t see that it isn’t attached because the bottom of the panel has an interlocking part that doesn’t necessarily require that you screw the panel in at the top. I also didn’t bother with the lights since I would be moving it around to get to the base of the tree. The cat can’t eat it or get to the water so overall it does serve its purpose. ... show more

Nice alternative to tree skirt. We have a pretty small tree fortunately and the 21” barely fit. The lights are okay but a bit of a pain to thread thru the holes. We assembled the collar and then took the tree out of the base to put on as opposed to wrapping around the tree and securing on. Overall I’m happy with my purchase ... show more

Put together. Finally got lights installed. But they are a major pain to turn on & off after the tree is all decorated & on top. And my tree should have fit per their measurements but not quite. Sits up slightly on top of one piece of the base.

My fault for not measuring and thinking my big tree would fit the smaller one. So now I have both sizes and kept the smaller one for my second tree that I didn’t put up this year, but usually do. I’m lazy and read the reviews and for $4 ordered separate fairy light that I could toss in and plug-in the wall so I could hit the light switch to turn on-off with the tree. Love the look! Very cute overall, but has flaws. The pieces bend easily so the snowflakes were bent and the pieces didn’t fit together easily. Even once I had them bent to align, the screws would not thread because of how they are welded. Size was also off a bit. Also, the fairy lights that light this up are a tiny switch on 2 different strings of lights you have to find and turn on every time. Therefore, overall, it was not worth the hassle and I decided to return. It is cute…if you’re willing to battle the inconvenience for the look, it definitely has the look. ... show more
