Bought for my 10months old. Xylophone makes pretty sounds and the wood box with the orange is really esthetically pleasing. Would’ve gotten the one with the flat and sharp notes but I didn’t like the red. Wish they did make this a full 2 octaves! I’m not quite sure but one note does seem a little off. ... show more

It does appear to be in tune, and I like the wood and rubber mallet options to change the sound. However, the paint is not applied smoothly and there is some color variation. The letters that are etched are almost invisible on a few of the metal pieces. This is for a child, so not completely necessary to know the notes, but consistency would be nice for the price. If I didn't need this for a birthday gift I would have exchanged or returned. Update: I ordered a second one and the quality was just as bad if not worse, and it shipped in the original packaging and the box was damaged. ... show more

Sound is pure. The reverb lasts longer than on other sound boxes. Beware of red mallets. The dye discolors. My tablecloth has unremovable red marks.

You just never know. In this case, the product exceeded my expectations. The sound quality is surprisingly good and clean. The construction is excellent and safe for the little ones. The mallets are made so that the ends don't come off--excellent. I suspect I'll be buying another couple of these for more grandkids! ... show more

This is a great musical instrument. I bought a different brand and was very disappointed. The notes were so poorly tuned that it was basically $30 junk. This was well worth the $50 I paid for it. Thanks for making a toy that my child can actually learn MUSIC on. :)

Very pleased with this product. Shopped many choices of xylophones, this product has far superior sound, most likely due to the hollow acoustic sound box on which the keys are mounted (similar to a guitar) plus well tuned keys. Very pleased with the item delivered, outstanding for both adults and kids per its sound. The wood box is simple, not artistic/art level, but the sound is outstanding. Comes with shorter rigid-stem wood tip mallets plus longer flexing-stem rubber tip mallets, later seem to provide nice touch hitting the keys. Had a small temporary problem with the red rubber tip mallets transferring red to hands & cloth at touch (worth checking), the vendor immediately nicely replaced them with new non-staining mallets.
