Excellent for a beginner. Purchased this a few months ago and it's still operating like brand new. No major issues with the strings and tuning. No structural failings. Highly recommend for anyone just starting out learning to play and care for a bass. Amp also has it's shortcomings with sound quality, but great learning curve for beginners. Very lightweight. I could almost fit the amp into an average sized backpack. The only complaint is the strap is awful. It fits well in terms of length, but the hole to connect to the guitar wore out within a month without it being removed often. It dug into my shoulder like it wanted to tear into my skin through my shirt, too. Tried to get around that by tucking an old shirt under it and it just made it feel really awkward. I have experience marching with a bass drum and my partner does with a snare with similar straps. Never had this issue. ... show more

As a drummer who decided to dabble on learning a new instrument, this was a great, affordable option. I had already purchased a decent Jackson bass guitar within my budget, and this was kind of an added bonus as I needed a practice amp and it just happened to come with some extras (including a 2nd bass guitar). As some reviewers stated, the frets are not rounded off which does cause minor cuts to the hand (but no bloodshed, and I’ve been playing for hours). The guitar is very out of tune out of the box but as a beginner, I was able to use this as an opportunity to learn how to do relative tuning and got it sounding pretty good. It’s a beautiful finish on the guitar and there were no damage issues with the contents although my box was a little damaged which is expected in transport. The amp alone makes this worth the money for me and it sounds great at low volumes and even at highest volume… honestly, the bad reviews I read seemed like they were from seasoned bass players who were looking to tear this item apart. I would say if you’re a beginner, or someone who’s never played bass, this is the best option for your money. Explanation: I'm wanting to make some modifications to a decent bass I already have but was hesitant because it is a good bass as is and I don't want to mess it up. I thought buying a cheap bass to practice the mods on would be prudent, so that's what I did. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this Glarry bass. The set up was almost what I would have it right out of the box. Nice low action. Easy to play. Tone is much better than I was expecting. And it's lighter than I expected. The strings aren't great, but would be ok for younger kids starting out. And having just one tone knob makes it easy for beginners to get a tone they can work with. I caught the cyber Monday sale and picked up the complete package that included the amp thinking it would be good enough for my grandkids to play with and not be using my good one. The amp isn't anything great, but can be adjusted to a tolerable sound. It is small and light weight so I'm not surprised that it's a bit lacking in tone quality. But again, perfect for kids just starting out. It's a reasonable quality set up if you have a kid wanting to try out bass before investing a lot of money or who changes their interests frequently. ... show more

Normally I play guitar. But I wanted to venture out of my comfort zone and get an electric bass. This was an excellent purchase! I LOVE the color scheme option I picked, especially when I saw it in person! Even the guys at the music shop were amazed at the quality of this Glarry! Action is a bit high, but that's not even a downside since it can be adjusted (not that I have done so). Plays great, feels comfortable, and outside of replacing the cable it came with (a personal choice to be honest) I have no regrets!
