Features

  • While the style is understated, the Tyrant boasts countless under-the-hood tech breakthroughs including Wind Tunnel Ventilation and MIPS Spherical technology.
  • MIPS Spherical utilizes a pair of foam layers that work like a ball and socket to redirect impact energy in a crash.
  • One layer is EPS, which is well suited to high-speed crashes.
  • The other is a lower density EPP foam with rebound characteristics to address low-speed, roll-around-in-the-dirt-type spills.
  • The added coverage of this "full cut" design further enhances protective capability, while taking helmet design in a new direction for riders seeking style over speed.

  • Light weight and comfy
Liked it from the begining. Ventilated, Light weight and comfortable. Not better than a full face but better protection than a regular helmet Saved me from a big crash and still going strong

  • This helmet is no joke.
Color: Matte Trim Red (Discontinued) Size: Small (51-55 cm)
Update: This helmet is surprisingly cold in sub 50 degree weather. Something about the shape seems to funnel the wind into your ears and eyes. There is no way to add a face shield . There is also no spot to attach a goggle strap. A balaclava does help a bit. This is still a great helmet, but the lack of a face shield is something to consider if you ride in a colder climate. I recently purchased an ebike for a 24+ mile a day commute. I felt that my Giro Fixture helmet would not protect my head at faster speeds ( see the difference between the Tyrant (Left) and Fixture (Right). Cue the new helmet search. I tried the Bell Super Air MIPS and felt it was to bulky and heavy. My other consideration was the Fox Dropframe mountain bike helmet. The key things that kept me from purchasing the Fox Helmet were lack of adjustability and MIPS technology. I also could not find it in the color/size I wanted. I have a head circumference of 53cm and ordered the small Tyrant helmet. Upon trying the helmet on, it feel a little tight and heavy at first. Do not let this deter you from the purchase, the clicker on the back is adjustable and pads conformed to my head shape quickly. When standing still while wearing the helmet it does seem HOT. However, once you are moving on a bike, the vents do their job and keep the head very cool. I rode 12 miles in 95 degree heat today with zero discomfort. The most important thing is that this helmet feels SAFE. It hugs the head in the all the right places, without becoming uncomfortable. I honestly think this helmet is the best protection you can find without wearing a full face/motorcycle style. ... show more

  • Large, goofy but works and is comfortable
Color: Matte Trim Red (Discontinued) Size: Large (59-63 cm)
Feel silly when I'm wearing this after seeing a photo I was looking for a streamline helmet without many vents so I'm not a fan of all the vents but they do seem to help in 80+ weather Helmet has a huge overall appearance like a large baseball helmet Helmet is comfortable Strap easy to adjust Feel safer having it on and was my decision to go with this before settling on a full face or until something nicer pops up Also it was on sale and would probably repurchase if needed at sale price ... show more

  • Great protection, but won't fit if you have a round head
Color: Matte Trim Red (Discontinued) Size: Large (59-63 cm)
This helmet was given a 10/10 in protection by OutdoorGearLab so it seemed like the best option for me to use while biking in city streets. The helmet is well built, has MIPS, and has Giro Spherical system. The backside height can be adjusted to several positions to ensure a comfortable fit. The major drawback about this helmet, and maybe all Giro/Bell helmets (same parent company), is that they are made for oval heads. According to their sizing chart, I'm a medium, but the helmet is painful to put on because it crushes the sides of my head. I tried a size large, and that fits the width of my head, but there is so much extra space in the back, that the ratchething system doesn't get snug enough to provide me a safe fit. Specialized makes "round fit" helmets (though not like this helmet style) if anyone is struggling with this issue. ... show more

  • Great helmet
Color: Matte Portaro Grey Size: Large (59-63 cm)
I started riding with a bmx lid, tgen got a half shell, then a full face… this is the best helmet I’ve had. I still use the full face if I’m going crazy, but wear the Tyrant 95% of my riding-even at the pump track and skate park. Super comfortable, not super hot, and more protection than the skate lid. Highly recommended. ... show more
