These are what I bought for road cycling in chilly Calif weather. The ventilation of the Shinmax is low because it only has two medium-sized openings on each frontal sections, and two slightly towards the rear as opposed to my Kask Proton, which has 21 excellent vents. My head was at a regular temperature, not cold, even though it was gloomy, mid-fifties outside, and there was a 6 to 8 mph breeze. The 2 hour ride was perfect, my head temp was normal, not chilly/cold, and barely any sweat. However, with temperatures above 60, and the minimal ventilation offered by the Shinmax, and at the speeds I ride at, the Shinmax will stay off. Helmet Rear 2 to 3 Stars: Helmet rides high in the back (see ad images) leaving minimal protection in case of a crash. Adjustments are easy as it has a good size knob. Visor 4 out of 5: Is a decent size, blocks a lot of facial wind, the right shade - not to dark. However, the magnets are weak, I would not recommend using the Shinmax visor for off road spinning. Straps 3 out 5: The side strap V's do not stay in place, they drop down. Also, the connection point is to the side not under the jaw. No issues, just a little difficult to unbuckle. Pads are 5 out 5. Thick & wide and good amount Wind Noise 1 Star: With or without the visor wind noise rushing past my ears is horrible. Even at speeds as low as 12 mph, the wind noise becomes distracting.

The first thing I noticed may seem odd but it is very negligible and that's the magnetic fitment of the visor. It's not tight but it didn't matter nearly as much as I thought it would. Now the fitment of the helmet is pretty amazing. Maybe I have the right head-shape for the helmet but it's snug enough, easy to adjust and since I wear glasses, that was an initial concern. The visor is the game changer for me, does well at blocking out light from every angle that matters. It does really well at blocking the wind from drying my eyes out and it does great at preventing the rain from hitting my glasses at every angle (experiences with rain may vary) that I've had to deal with. Overall, great helmet for the price.

I've been using it for five days and also purchased the clear visor for it. Be careful. I accidentally ordered the wrong visor the first time. I didn't realize this company had another helmet with a different visor so I just ordered the first one I saw on their page. The helmet itself I am very pleased with. Feels a lot less clunky than the couple I tried on at Wal-Mart, and I can't imagine not having a visor now. At first I thought it was too small. Be sure to pull the rear adjustor down away from the helmet. Loosen it up. Plant your head into the front of the helmet and then tighten as needed. Works great with a winter cap or balaclava as well. It is nice and light. Once I wondered if I remembered to put it on . Lol
