  • It was nice to have a convertible full face and regular style helmet
The helmet is nice and It’s just as heavy like other full face Giro helmets we had. When the front part is removed it still weighs a little bit then normal but it does provide very adequate protection and vents. Seller being bicycle addiction I would have to rate them low. The box came a little bit beat up but the helmet was not even in its soft bag. The cover bag was stuffed in the corner and there are extra padding’s and stuff that usually are in the plastic bag with instructions were not in there. The pads velcro part were stuck on to the soft bag in the corner like it was just tossed in. So it looks like it was some kind of a demo display model maybe. It really wasn’t packed the way you would buy a brand new. They did not even check to see if it was all put together since the instruction bag was also not even sealed in the bag. There was no quality assurance when it was packed and shipped out. ... show more

  • The helmet is pretty awesome. Your purchase comes with 2 visors
The helmet is pretty awesome. Your purchase comes with 2 visors, one basic and one that you can attach a camera, like a Go Pro or something. The face mask comes off easily, but not so easily that it will jiggle off on its own. It also comes with replacement cushons in the face portion. Great deal, husband loves it on his long downhill rides where he has to pump alot at the beginning or end. ... show more

  • This is an amazing helmet. got it for Enduro riding
This is an amazing helmet. got it for Enduro riding. Perfect to go up hill and even better going down. Super easy to slide the jaw piece into the helmet. I would recommend it for any rider that likes pedaling uphill and going down fast.

  • Bien seguro pero no de
El casco como protección es súper recomendado pero a nivel de acabado y materiales bastante decepcionado Considerar que lo más importante es la seguridad pero la mentonera no es práctica

  • WEAK this will not protect your face
I ignored a lot of reviews and people on online forums talking about how weak the face shield is and how it will fall off on a crash. I thought they were doing extreme jumps and that's why the helmet failed. I ordered this and I was wrong. You can rip the face shield right off the helmet with minimal effort. This helmet is FAR from being DH or Eduro safe. The top part that protects the head is solid, like other helmets this brand makes, but the face shield .... forget about it. Also, fit is not great. Every brand you can think of, their Medium helmets fit me great. This one fits tight, and I mean tight to the point I cant wear it for more than 10 minutes. Again, the problem is not the top, but the face shield piece. Save your time and money. I ended up purchasing a BELL Super DH. It is a lot more solid and a better fit. Let me clarify this: I was never expecting this to the to be the ultimate do it all helmet, crash against a tree and laugh. I understand there are weaknesses with these types of design. The Bell also has weaknesses. What I did not expect was something that was as fragile as this helmet. And the DH certifications ... forget about those. I dont know how they certify it, but it is clearly a poor thought out certification that will hurt people. ... show more

  • Saved my skull, highly recommended
I have had this helmet for a few weeks and have some thoughts to share. I also just had a major crash in it, so here is my two part review: A) Unintentional Crash Test This helmet is serious business, and it saved me in my gnarliest fall ever. I had a spectacular moment of insufficient skill in Tahoe, literally two weeks after getting this helmet. I am not sure how fast I was going, but obviously it was too fast, a brief twitch on my front wheel, I got unlucky, hit a rock, and got crossed-up. I came over the bars so fast I didn't even have time to put up my hands, and was jack-hammered directly into the ground with the kind of bone crunching force that we all hope to avoid. I heard a crunch and a crack, and then I was rolling in the dirt, surprised that I was pretty much totally uninjured (other than some bumps and bruises). I cracked the helmet, but it did such a good job absorbing and distributing the blow that I didn't even get a headache. I will also note that I was wearing a neck brace, which definitely kept me from spraining my neck (or worse). If you are like me, and push your limits on your bike, you owe it to yourself to have a helmet that can save you when you find them. B) General Impressions This is a high quality helmet, it feels more solid than the Super 2R, like a proper DH helmet. It is a little warmer than a regular half-shell, but the extra protection it provides is great. The big feature for me is the removable chin guard, which works really well, and is in my estimation the best implementation of a removable guard helmet so far. I usually have to earn my turns, and biking uphill in a full face helmet is never really fun. I had a Super 2R for about a year, but the mechanism for removing the chin guard was cumbersome, and the chin guard itself was awkwardly sized and had to be strapped to a backpack to get it out of the way. With the Switchblade, I can pop off the chin guard in a few seconds, stick one end of it in the pocket of my shorts, and start riding up hill. It stays put in my shorts till I am ready to go down, then a few more seconds and I am good to go. It takes a little practice to get quick with putting it back in, and I definitely recommend checking your work, since it is possible to clip it back in wrong. I always try tugging up and down on the chin guard and feeling along the seam to make sure all the latches are in place and it won't pop loose. The fit is great, standard Giro, it comes with a two thicknesses for the cheek pads, and the lock dial in the back can be adjusted vertically to accommodate different head/neck shapes. The included visors are nice, the tiltable one is all I use, since I use a chin guard mount for my go-pro. It is so handy to be able to pop your googles up for climbs or when you want them out of the way. Its really nice to have goggles for descents instead of glasses. I really hope that more people start wearing these types of helmets, mountain biking is a dangerous sport, and this kind of helmet will do a much better job of protecting your head than those half-shells that most people are still wearing. If this helmet seems like a bit too much, the Super 2R is still a good choice, but if you are trying to progress your riding while getting exercise from the climbs, it doesn't get better than the Switchblade. ... show more
