Like all the other Giraffe Tools I own this one has great build quality and the automatic retraction is a game changer. Install is easy and comes with a template to help you drill your wall. I like the built in power switch, but it is a little too easy to accidentally turn off. This is really because of the air hose reel that I have mounted next to it; when the two swivel together, the air hose reel can bump the switch on the side of the extension cord reel. My solution is going to be to 3D print a small collar to go around the switch that will keep the air hose from hitting it.

This retractable extension cord is the perfect solution for keeping power ready when you need it and out of the way when you don’t. I mounted it to the ceiling in the center of my 3-car garage, which lets me reach much of the driveway and anywhere inside the garage. The 12-gauge wire is thick and sturdy, delivering full power to my tools. I previously used an older reel with a built-in light, but its thin wire couldn’t provide enough power—my tools clearly struggled. After upgrading to this reel, the difference is night and day. Everything runs more smoothly now, and I couldn’t be happier.

Bought one and the reel stopped locking shortly after purchasing. Giraffe sent a replacement at no cost and have had zero issues since.

Absolute junk. Used three times and the cord jumped off the reel and is basically useless. Outside of the 30 day return window, of course.

We have this in our garage and it is used at least 4 times a week! Love it! We have had is for 9 months with no issues. We are looking into other items of this brand for the garage too!

Mounted the reel in the garage, setup was smooth, and cord is smooth out/in. This is a thicker gauge cord and at full length it is heavier to maneuver than a cheaper cord, but the weight is a good trade off for a higher amperage. Overall we are pleased with the brand and item and would purchase again.
