My husband filled it first with very hot water for a few minutes and then dumped that water out and we filled it with hot coffee. We wanted hot coffee to stay hot long enough to serve immediately after returning from church and a baptism, and we have a bit of a drive, so basically hot for over four hours. It was still very hot when we got home and for several hours after that. I host larger parties a few times a year and I can see this being useful for keeping hot cocoa or coffee hot and I'm curious if it would also keep cold things cold for summer parties.     • Still cold after two 100 degree days in the car
I always used this for pretty normal stuff - but recently I was supporting some runners with a water stop in hot weather. I filled this with cold ultra-concentrated Gatorade to make mixing drinks easier. There was about half the decanter left afterwards, but I forgot to bring it in from the car. It’s been 95 degrees- probably much much hotter in my dark colored vehicle. After almost 36 hours of heat - the Gatorade is still ice cold. So glad I bought this.     • Lid won't fit properly

We bought this on 9/3/21. It worked great. I bought replacement gaskets which we replaced occasionally. When the lid started to be a tight fit I smeared a little cooking oil on the gaskets, and this fixed the problem. Then a few days ago the lid would not fit easily. I had to use all the force I could muster to get the lid on or off. It was like the carafe shrunk, or the lid expanded, but a close examination could not detect either of these happening. I cleaned both components as best as I could, but that did not remedy the problem. Any suggestions? ... show more

Update: I was contacted directly by company via phone (apparently they googled my phone number). I did feel that was somewhat intrusive and honestly I did not like it. I wish they would have contacted mr through Amazon but I guess they really want the customer to be happy. Anyway..... they sent me a new carafe. I have run it through a couple tests and it does keep my coffee hotter and for a longer time. I did notice that you can hear air leaking from the first one but I do not hear it with this one. They do advertise heat retention for 12 hours but if you are removing the beverage periodically (which is how it is intended to be used) heat retention is limited to 3-5 hours based on my tests. I have learned that warming the pony with hot water before using greatly extends heat retention time. Does not keep coffee hot. Coffee is barely warm in less than 30 min. So far so good. Keeps coffee hot for hours (I do fill with hot water from the tap before pouring coffee in to warm up). Serving one handed can be done but a bit awkward as you have to pull tab down with thumb leaving hand all the way at the top so when it’s full, heavy for one hand so I stabilize with two hands.
