I needed to convert an RCA video signal from a 25 yr old Sony entertainment system to a new smart TV which had HDMI inputs, but no RCA jacks, so we could watch DVD movies. I only needed the video connector (yellow RCS), no sound since the entertainment system contained that. This came with a USB power cord, which I hooked up to the TV USB, the yellow RCA input, then plugged the HDMI connector to the TV. Worked right away. The converter box is lightweight, cables were adequate in length for my set-up behind the TV. Like several people said, I had to plug the USB cord into a spare charger block. But once I plugged that in, voila! The price is right because VCR players cost a lot now, and I was determined to get this converter to work out, which it did once I used the USB cord to plug it in to an outlet. Item does work and changes the standard AV out to HDMI. This does not upscale any video, it simply lets a classic Nintendo product usable on a modern TV which only has HDMI inputs. The only issue I ran into would be this needs to be powered by USB to function. This is listed in the description, but it works as expected.
