I’ve been using this Gibson Home Forestview bamboo cutting board daily for about a week, and it’s one of those kitchen staples that just quietly elevates the whole countertop. The board measures a full 18” x 12”, which gives you plenty of room for prep — large enough for slicing a whole pineapple or carving a roast, but still slim enough to store upright in a cabinet. The build quality is excellent for the price. The bamboo surface is thick, around ¾ inch, and feels dense and solid — no warping, soft spots, or uneven grain. It’s clearly made from compressed vertical bamboo strips, which gives it a consistent, tight pattern and a natural honey color that looks clean and modern. The finish is smooth and lightly oiled, just enough to bring out the tone without feeling slippery or coated. The juice groove is surprisingly deep — about ¼ inch wide — and it actually works. I tested it by cutting a couple of ripe tomatoes and chicken breasts, and it caught all the liquid without spilling over the edge. The groove runs neatly around the entire perimeter, which also helps keep the board visually sharp when you’re serving cheese or charcuterie on it. In use, the surface is firm but forgiving on knives — it’s not overly hard like glass or stone, so it won’t dull blades quickly. I’ve used both stainless chef’s knives and a carbon steel Santoku on it, and neither left visible scoring beyond light superficial marks. Care-wise/cleaning, I’ve been wiping it down with mild soap and warm water after each use and reapplying a little food-grade mineral oil once during the week to maintain the sheen. It dries quickly and hasn’t shown any signs of splitting or raised grain, even after a few damp uses. The board’s weight is ideal for stability — about 3.5 lbs, so it doesn’t slide around when chopping. The edges are gently beveled for easy lifting, and it looks polished enough to use as a serving tray for fruit, bread, or hors d’oeuvres when guests are over. It arrived well-packaged in a snug box with protective wrap, ready to use right out of the packaging — no chemical smell, no sanding needed. Overall, this board feels like a hybrid between a daily prep surface and a countertop showpiece. It’s sturdy, eco-friendly, and thoughtfully finished, the kind of thing that makes you want to keep your kitchen tidy just so it can stay out on display. ... show more

Made some biscuits on it first thing this morning. Seems to be pretty good quality for the price. I have a corningware for meat and stuff. I like the deep groove all around for cutting vegetables later cause my corningware one can dull the knife but I like corningware.

If you are looking for a large bamboo cutting board this is a good option. It’s sturdy and has a good weight to it. I do wish it was smoother. I think that’s my only complaint. I feel like it could have been sanded some more to create a much smoother effect. I can see possible splinters later. It was easy to clean though which is nice. ... show more

I love my new beautiful Gibson Home bamboo cutting board. I opted in for the 18" x 12" size as I used to have a larger cutting board that was similar to this Gibson Home, and it was just too big sometimes. The 18" x 12" is a perfect size for our family and has already been used to make homemade sourdough bread and cut a nice juicy tri-tip on it. With the tri-tip the juice groove really helped and was able to catch the majority of the juice, but the steak was very juicy that we had to wipe the cutting board once to clear it. As far as cleaning this cutting board, I used basic dish soap and a soft sponge and it was very easy to clean. However, I did notice that the cutting board did start to shed small splinters of bamboo. I added some photos to show this. I believe this is normal for brand new bamboo cutting boards, so what I did was take a paper towel once the cutting board was dry and wipe these small splinters off. I plan on using a cutting board oil and wax to condition this cutting board so it will last a long time, which I know it will based on the sturdy build. ... show more
