I did a lot of research. My boyfriend and I compete in Jiu Jitsu, Blue and Purple belts respectively, and wanted to be able to practice at home sometimes. We weren't willing to pay the hefty price of normal grappling mats so looked into these. I didn't see a lot of reviews for anything other than the use for children doing tumbling. So I gave this a shot on a whim. We got 2 4x10 mats which made it 8x10 and fit perfectly in our office,it is a small space to grapple on but it works just fine when we are just rolling for fun/light practice.. We try not to be too rough on these and that includes no throws or hard takedowns but they have held up very well so far. They are not super cushioned but padded enough to not get hurt, they feel similar to mats you would find in a regular martial arts gym. The material covering the mats is not bad, but doesn't seem very thick, I imagine after a few months of regular use it will break, so we are going to make some covers ourselves for extra protection and to be ale to clean them more thoroughly without worrying about the material fraying. Overall this was a great buy for us and hopefully this will be useful for other BJJ practicers. Oss!

As a gymnastics coach who travels to homes to give lessons, I researched forever before choosing a new mat. I've only had this for a few weeks, and I have to say it takes much more abuse than it probably would just staying in 1 home, but the mat looks as new as ever. I worried about what I read about the handle ripping off in a few situations but after carrying it up and down two flights of stairs and in and out of homes in various kinds of weather, there is no sign of the handle ripping at all. All of my clients except for 1 prefer this mat to my previous one. Has a firm feel to it, but soft enough where kids' wrist and ankles won't take too much of a beating when landing too many roundoffs, handsprings, etc. Easily fits a back handspring for a middle-school child, and enough room to step into an aerial. Super light and easy to transport. I use it so much that I just keep it against my wall, but I'd imagine it could slide easily under a bed or into a closet. As a coach of 19 years who has used all kinds of mats, this one definitely gets my recommendation for home practice!

We got this as a gift for our daughter. I was really surprised with the quality its great!! Really firm and a great crash mat for some gymnastics practice in the basement. Its light and easy to fold up. We are already planning on getting a second to cover the whole play area for the kids.

Love this!! I have an autistic 2 year old and he has a Minor case of Cerebral Palsy and he falls ALOT and was so happy to get these put In his room! I got the thickest one and was so happy the quality. Easy to move and stick together and not heavy but so nice to have and is a life saver!! Love! Definitely will be ordering more when I get some extra money! Thank you!

My daughter is a fanatic for all things gymnastic so I bought her this mat for her birthday and she loves it! It's plenty thick to soften the blow of those hard falls. The size is just right for my 5' tall 13 yo to do a full cartwheel or backflip without running out of mat. The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is I wish there was a way to cover the Velcro edges when you are using just one mat. They are very convenient for connecting multiple mats together, but are very abrasive when she runs bare skin over them. They have caused a few scratches, but I wouldn't avoid buying it because of that. The seams are well made and seem very durable. They are holding up well with lots of daily use. The flaps that allow you to fold it up are also durable and have withstood constant moving, folding and carrying around of the mat. Overall, the quality of the material is great. There is no signs of thinning, weak spots or fraying and I anticipate this will hold strong for a long time to come. I would definitely recommend this mat to a friend

Gave it as a gift to my nephews and niece. My brother wasn't too happy when he saw the size of the box, but the kids love it, and folded-up, it sits neatly against the wall, and is good for seating. As a former gymnast, and part-time coach, I recommend this mat for home use. It's thicker and softer than the basic 1" thick ethafoam mats, and made well. Be sure to teach your kids to fold it up correctly, so they don't ruin the seams, or damage the panels. This goes for ANY folding mat. This one is a nice big size - perfect for cartwheels, handstands, rolls, walkovers, and even flip-flops (recommend 2 in a row for round-off flip-flops and front handsprings). Also great for adults doing exercises. Much easier on your body than doing situps and pushups on a hard floor, or one of those cheap, thin exercise mats.

Love these mats! We have 5 of them put together in our living room for our son. Fantastic to use and very large, excellent for the price! Yes they do have a fishy smell for the first week or so, but it goes away after awhile and once the house airs out. 2 of the mats we first got were perfect. Ordered additional ones, and the stitching was too close on the fold so the mats do not lay completely flat but have some lift to them as though you're folding it back up. We deal with it by putting the trampoline and rock wall on these that tend to bend up. The weight of those items holds them down flat like they should be.

This was a gift for my daughter for Christmas. She is almost 10 and loves to tumble and flip and never seems to stop moving! After researching a LOT of gym mats, I settled on this one and I am very happy with it (and so is she!). It is nice and thick and longer than most mats on the market. It is also more affordable than many I have seen. Although it is quite heavy, she is able to pull it out and set it up as well as, even more importantly, fold it up properly and put it away when she is done! That is a miracle in and of itself! She uses it multiple times a day and I haven't noticed any unusual wear or tear yet. So far so good!
