Don't understand the negative reviews, this case is great. I've been buying Otterbox since they came out and recently their variety of colors and styles have been lacking. Also their prices have skyrocketed for a hockey puck of rubber and plastic. I saw this and thought I'd give it a try. First I'll address the negative reviews I see. The case does not block signal that's ridiculous and impossible. I get the same signal with or without the case. And if you've ever taken a phone apart you know the antenna wire runs the length of the back of your phone. Next the buttons do not rattle or make noise unless you press them and it's a barely audible click. The buttons are harder to press than some cases but I actually like it. No accidental button pressing in a pocket or purse. It's just not that bad and they are getting easier with use. As for the case being slippery it is smooth as it's aluminum but I haven't had any problems holding it. I mean it doesn't squirt outta your hands and if you hold it correctly it shouldn't be an issue. To correct this Ghostek should put knurling on the outside of the aluminum instead of the line of rubber for the next version. Overall the case has exceeded my expectations. It's well made, solid and protects perfectly while looking great. The price tag is in the middle and fair for getting aluminum protection. And even though they used metal it doesn't add bulk to the size. Goes in and out of the pocket nicely. Making the back panel see through is a nice touch as you buy a phone and never actually see the color. Time will tell if the anodizing (color on the aluminum) holds up. I hope they continue to make this style case as I will look to them first in the future. Nice work Ghostek! ... show more

The color shifting metal bits look cool and the case feels sturdy but the cut outa for the fingerprint sensor and camera are both a really sharp and unfinished. It's hard to take the case off of the phone once you get it in and I cut myself badly on the camera cut out while trying to take it off. I feel like they could have smooth over the edges on the acrylic for the camera cut out and especially the finger print sensor cut out. But it's nothing that a razor blade and some sandpaper can't smooth out. Though for the price of the product it should probably come a little bit more polished than it does. I think I am going to return the case. The case looks good, but the buttons are extremely difficult to press. I thought maybe they weren't lined up, but they are. The aluminum sides are also slippery.

    • More slippery than I expected - but does protect my phone from drops

I am torn about what to rate it because there are pros and cons. Also in case it matters for the review - I have a Pixel 5. Pro: (1) I purchased in January 2021 and it is now June 2021 - I have dropped my phone multiple times and it absolutely protected it. I loved that it had such a great rating for drop-test distance....And that is really the only reason I didn't return it. (2) The case is overall pretty, even if it's not what I expected it to look like (further details below) and I do get occasional compliments on the case. Cons: (1) Way more slippery than I expected. The sides on the bottom half appear to be a 'grippy' but they're really pretty slippery. One of the reasons I purchased this was because a product review video I watched said how grippy it was, I was disappointed in how slippery it actually is...To the point that I almost returned it because I was afraid I would end up dropping it more. (I did end up keeping it and I purchased a PopSocket Slide to help me hold it and help keep me from dropping it as frequently.) Also, I purchased a case for myself and my husband's phone at the same time, but they took a while to arrive. Mine arrived first and my husband tested it out while waiting for his own to arrive - he agreed it was way more slippery than expected and actually had me cancel his order and he went with a different brand. (2) I thought I was supposed to be able to do wireless charging with the case on. It seems to be hit or miss if that actually works with the case on. (3) The price and colors. Maybe I'm being nitpicky but I was annoyed that there were $10 differences between colors. I was originally going to buy the pink for $40 and ended up with the rainbow color for $50. FYI for anyone else who wasn't sure - it is not prismatic/or change colors as you turn it. The video made it appear like it had a shiny rainbow color changing quality. But it is definitely just a printed on color that doesn't change as you rotate it/shimmer it in the light/etc. It's mostly just a purpleish/pinkish color, with some spots of blue and a very tiny spot of yellow if you search for it. ... show more

Months of trying to figure out why my phone wasn't getting any cell service. We switched providers, changed plans, started a return for my new pixel 5 thinking it was just the phone. But once we took off the case... Everything started working. Alot of time and money wasted, no phone calls came through on my birthday... Wish we knew sooner that the phone case was causing it. Called Amazon and we are we are getting a return even passed the 30 days. ... show more

A very nice looking and functional phone case. Other reviewers mention issues with the case blocking their wireless signal or issues with the buttons being hard to press, neither of these were a problem for me. The prismatic finish on the metal is very pretty but it does get worn away in places after light use. I just recently dropped my phone in this case while out biking, but thankfully the phone was unscathed. The case, on the other hand, of course had some scuffs around where it hit the pavement, which is to be expected. The issue, though, is that the impact seems to have disfigured the aluminum a bit, so the case is misaligned, making the buttons more difficult to press and the aluminum is pulling away from the TPU. Overall, I'm happy the case protected my phone, but it's a bit of a letdown to have to get a new case after this. My old Galaxy S6's Otterbox Defender withstood so much more abuse in 6 years than this case took in 3 months. ... show more
