Description

Embark on a journey at the edge of Japan. Discover a bold, new story of a warrior in Japan who is on a mission of vengeance all her own. Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier. Sixteen years after her family’s death, Atsu's quest across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws, but she finds much more than vengeance. Throughout her journey, Atsu will discover unlikely allies, and greater bonds than she could have imagined.

  • Worthy of the Name "Ghost"
Ghost of Yotei is not a direct sequel to the last game, but it is worthy of the name. You play as Atsu, a woman seeking revenge for the murder of her family, which at a glance is less appealing than the Mongol war in the first game, but its enjoyable as you hunt and gather information on the Yotei Six. The map is riddled with side quests and vanities to discover, giving you more options to customize your character. New missions such as bounty hunts have been added to give you more of that mercenary feel. Combat is essentially the same as the first game but with some slight adjustments. Stances are gone, and are replaced with multiple weapons. For example, instead of wind stance, which is strong against pole arms, you have dual katana, which is essentially the same thing but looks cooler. Enemies can now drop weapons (and so can you), which you can pick up and throw for devastating damage. There are new features and threats, forcing you to adjust on the fly to prevent being disarmed or killed. Also, there is a wolf that will appear every now and then and help you fight your foes. I will say, the dual standoff with the wolf is one of the coolest things I have seen in a game in a long time. Visually the game is outstanding on regular PS5. Better visuals than the first game, and it runs a smooth 4k 60fps with no hiccups. You still get those beautiful landscapes that you expect in a game like this. Honestly not much more I can add to this as it uses the PS5 tech to the max. Ultimately, this game is an improvement in more ways than not, and I think its worth your time and money. Not my game of the year, but top 5 for sure. 9/10 for me and I am looking forward to the multiplayer update. ... show more

  • Incredible game!!
If you’re a fan of the first game (Ghost of Tsushima), you’re going to love this one. I’m a few hours in, and the game is already fantastic! Graphics are amazing, even on the PS5 OG console on performance settings so if you have a PS5 pro even better. The world is absolutely gorgeous, the music and sounds are great, the fighting is even better than the first game it’s much more dark and gritty in my honest opinion. The story is great so far and looking to be on par or even better than the first game. The horse riding is also much better than the first game. It doesn’t feel so clunky, and the horse doesn’t feel like it weighs 5,000 lbs lol. Don’t let political nonsense or biased non-gamers tell you the game is bad because That couldn’t be more false and it’s incredibly dishonest to judge a game based on anything other than the game itself. These people purposely downvoted the game on YouTube and other sites to try and “cancel” the game without playing 1 second of it and epically failed, all because the voice actress used her Second Amendment right and said something some people didn’t like. I’m actually enjoying it even more than the original game, and I absolutely love Ghost of Tsushima. This game is a masterpiece and a must-play for anyone that was a fan of the Ghost of Tsushima game. 5/5 ... show more

  • Fun game that looks good too
Ghost of Yotei takes place three hundred years after Ghost of Tsushima. This game is fun to play and visually looks good. It has an open world to explore and the story is enjoyable. There is a multiplayer mode as well.

  • It's a good sequel.
It's a very good game. The story was simple but well done. Not as good as the predecessor but okay. Aside from that there's nothing else you can say. It's just good.

  • This game is why I got a PS5
This game delivers all the graphics, gameplay, and immersion that makes me glad I upgraded to a PS5 (I have gone the path of PS3 -> PS4->PS5). The graphics are stunning, the actors are great (I especially like the main character Atsu), the gameplay, combat and immersive mini games are the best I've seen. The immersion deserves to be called out. You can to play music, light a fire and even cook food! You can skip these things, but they really add to you being transported back to this time and place. Just riding around the landscape is a pleasure to look at (I notice the camera angles seem to anticipate you, giving you a view a cinematographer might have chosen. The story, at first, seems like a simple revenge quest, but gets fleshed out in flashbacks when Atsu was young (I am wondering if the same VA did the child version too, can't tell but the voice matches). There's an attention to detail here that makes the game enjoyable subconsciously as well (if that makes sense). In short - buy if you have a PS5 (for the best experience). ... show more

  • Slow start, and not as good as Tsushima, but gets better and gameplay is fantastic.
Contrary to what some have said, I don't consider this to be better than Ghost of Tsushima. It particularly has a problem hooking the audience with a good story at the start. The story does eventually develop once it introduces some new characters, but it takes a while to really feel invested in what's going on. Before that it feels like any other open world checklist game. Graphics and gameplay are brilliant though. ... show more
