The book is written in a casual, conversational style. It is easily accessible to those who have no prior knowledge in 3D printing, yet the book's message is solidly practical, technically accurate, and consumer-relevant. The chapters include contemporary, real-life learning exercises and insights for how to buy, use and maintain 3D printers. It also covers free 3D modeling software, as well as 3D printing services for those who don't want to immediately invest in the purchase of a 3D printer. • Not what expected
This book is for beginners but I bought the 2nd book to skip all the this and that about 3d printing do not buy this book if you need actual help using and calibrating the printers slicers setting. This book is for some one who wants to know what 3d printing is a lot of gibber jabber and not actual help ... show more

  • Lots of information packed into a small place
I found it a bit confusing ,maybe because the two technologies are quite different and since I have both a resin printer and a filament printer I was mixing things up but if you work or play in a single discipline this book covers a lot of ground for its size!

  • This is the true 3-D printers book for dummies(Beginners).
I purchased 3 different books on 3-D printing because it’s something new to me and I wanted to educate myself as much as possible. I originally purchased the dummy series for 3D printing and it’s not nearly as good as this book is. It goes over a lot of subjects that beginners will be interested in, and it goes over trouble shooting if and when you’ll run into issues. There is one other great book I picked up by the 3D print general, this one and that one are 2 excellent books, but to be fair, this review is about this particular book and it is a 5 star book imo. ... show more

  • Bought a few 3D printing books - this one was the best
This book doesn't spend a lot of time on explaining what 3D printing is, it just gets right in to telling you what you need to know to start printing. Does a good job of covering hardware and software.

  • For the complete beginner
I'm not entirely sure how to rate this book. It's certainly not what I was hoping. I have been exposed to 3D printing quite a bit, but wanted to get started on the right track. This book is very, very, basic and most subjects are covered very superficially. It might be just the ticket for someone who hasn't seen a 3D printer and doesn't know the basic parts or process, but there's very little information that I'll actually use. Things I was hoping to read more about are slicer settings, support material, infill, etc. These things are mentioned, but not discussed in a 'how to' fashion. Mostly just a lot of admonitions to follow your printer maker's recommendations. If you don't know the first thing about 3D printing and are just looking for something to explain the various bits and pieces as well as terminology, this book might be what you need. If you've got a 3D printer and are looking to improve your results, this probably isn't going to be very valuable to you. ... show more

  • Poor paper.
Poor paper, you can see the other side print coming through. The printing characters are very thin and does not make for easy reading. The information in the book is good and gets a five star rating

  • Learn 3D printing
