I have only just opened it the last hour it's been on the box was a little worrisome because at first I thought I was getting a knock off brand of something I spent a good deal on but it's plugged in I love it and I'm excited to see what it can do as someone who has severe allergies to pollen, dust pet dander, and smoke odors I'm praying this will make it easier for me when my family member brings her cat over to visit. I am not sure if it has to be on the floor to work properly or if it can be on my table to work fine but I all in all love the fan noise of it and I'm excited for my first ever purifier!!! ... show more

up front comparing this product to BlueAir 411i Max series which is comparable for bedroom size rooms. I paid $111 for the GermGuardian AC4300BPTCA and $169 for the Blueair 411i Max. Pros for the Germ Guardian - it costs less than the BlueAir compariable by about $40-60 depending on taking advantage of sales. It has a UV germ filter, I ran if for a week in my bedroom (before any other filter use) and I could tell a noticeable improvement in the quality of my air. Whatever allergens had been bothering me were noticeably reduced and my comfort level improved during sleep. Cons for the Germ Guardian - it's noisy, it is completely manual, and you can't dim the lights on the controls. So at night we put a cover over the controls as we didn't need a nightlight. Pros for the BlueAir series. very very quiet. On auto maintenance mode - you can't hear the thing. These are smart machines. You can monitor every aspect of your air quality through the app. You can adjust the control lights from off to bright. It tracks months of air quality data for the room it is in by month, week, day. You can adjust from sleep mode, auto, and 3 fan speeds using the app remotely. It tells you how much filter life is left. It tells you the outside air quality and compares to your inside. Example of its effectiveness; I was sautéing some Italian sausage and onions, the unit detected the particles and immediately went into high mode for about 5 minutes until all the odor was eliminated and then went back to silent. The front LED bar changes from Blue to Green, orange and red depending on the air quality while at the same time adjusting the fan speed to address the corresponding level of air quality indicated. Same thing happened when smoking some meat on the back patio. I left the door open to bring in the food, the unit detected the smoke and the front LED went red. After closing the door, it ran on high mode until the LED indicators began to regress back to blue and the fan speed decreasing accordingly until all the smoke odor was eliminated from the room. As with the Germ Guardian, I have noticed a very positive difference in the air quality in my living room so I can't really comment on the specific differences in air quality effectiveness from any scientific measurement. Cons for the BlueAir product. It is a bit pricier - but for all the differences - so far, I feel the Blue Air product is definitely worth the price difference, for me at least. What I have not addressed: the longivity of the products; the life of the filter; ease of maintaining; Both of my purchases are within the first month; I will use both. I have a small apartment room that is not always occupied and I will keep the GermGuardian there as the noise level will not be an issue and the air quality will be maintained. I have the Blueair 211i Max and 411iMax in my living room and bedroom and will keep them there. If you want to have a good cost effective air purifier that does the job and don't wish to spend the extra $$$ on the bells and whistles, then the Germ Guardian is a solid choice. ... show more

    • FABULOUS DEVICE FOR HEALTHIER AIR

As a high risk person with respiratory illnesses my first purchase of one of these air cleaners was during COVID. This unit will move air from the whole floor its on and run it through the Hepa filter to clean it, like many units do. The bonus on this for me was it also sanitizes air, killing germs in it. I like the tower style since it has a smaller foot print. The unit at top speed doesn't bother me at all with the white noise. I move it into my bedroom at night and I'm a light sleeper. The replacement filters are more reasonable than some others and on sale on Amazon from time to time. Another bonus of the purifier is as it pushes clean air back into the room, it also circulates so acts like a fan at a lower level than my ceiling fans. My son has allergies and received one of these for his apartment last Christmas. I recently moved into a two story so purchased another purifier so there is one on each floor. That is adequate for the square footage I have and the volume of air this machine moves. This is my 3RD purchase of this purifier and I can recommend it without reservation. Purchased the first Germ Guardian air purifier for our appro 10 x 12 foot bedroom, after researching them due to worsening allergies/sinus issues. It made such an impact after just a few days that we have purchased two more! One for our living room (appro 12 x 16') and one for my mother-in-law. Given the wide price range of air purifiers, we feel that this is a tremendous value for the money. We ran on full speed for the first 72 hours, checking filter every day just to see. Lots of airborne particulates being captured but the tower filter is holding up very well -- we were worried we'd overdo it (our house is just a dust & dander pit) but that has not been an issue at all. Even at top speed in bedroom, it's a pleasant low white noise in the background. On lowest speed you cannot hear it unless right next to it. White tower blends in pretty well, takes up hardly an space (has about an 8" square footprint) but you do have to position at least a foot away from any walls for air circulation. UV circle light is blue and quite calming, not obtrusive at all. Very light and easy to move around (has a good handle on the back for lifting) and comes out of the box ready to go: just plug it in! We have a very shaggy dog and live in the Washington DC area, so lots of pollen and dust here. This unit has already made a huge difference and we couldn't be happier with it. ... show more
