  • Very Good Quality at Great Price
Style: Gray Standard Sheath
I've had the same Gerber multitool in my outdoor bag for over a decade and it's always worked flawlessly. I decided to buy this one to keep in the car and was so impressed I bought a second one of these a couple of weeks later. The quality, fit and finish are very good. This is a very solid multitool built to last. Frankly, at this price it's impressive. I've also had good experiences with Gerber's lifetime warranty. I sent my old multitool in because the blade started showing rust spots and wear after nearly a decade. They cleaned it up, sharpened it, and sent it back at no cost, no questions asked. 9 out of 10 companies would've said it was wear and tear and denied warranty work. ... show more

  • Built Like a Tank, Works Like a Precision Tool: The Multitool That Earns Its Keep
Style: Black Molle Sheath
The Gerber Gear Truss Multitool is a masterclass in practical engineering—tough, refined, and ready for anything. After putting it through weeks of real-world use, from garage repairs to camping trips, I can confidently say it punches far above its price tag. This isn’t a gimmick gadget; it’s a serious piece of kit designed for people who actually use their tools. Build Quality & Engineering: From the moment you unfold it, the Truss exudes confidence. The all-steel construction feels rock solid—no flex, no rattle, no shortcuts. Each of the 17 integrated tools deploys smoothly and locks into place with satisfying precision. Gerber’s design team clearly prioritized balance and ergonomics; it feels equally at home in your hand whether you’re cutting, prying, or turning a screw. The spring-loaded needle-nose pliers have excellent tension and alignment—tight enough for control, but never stiff or sticky. Metal Quality & Durability: The stainless steel used here is excellent. It resists corrosion, holds a sharp edge, and shrugs off abuse that would scar lesser tools. The wire cutters handle both copper and steel wire cleanly, and the knife blade sharpens easily while retaining an edge longer than expected for this price point. This is a tool you can throw in a truck, take on the trail, or keep in a workshop without worrying about it giving up under pressure. Packaging: Even the presentation feels premium. The Truss comes in a compact, protective box with a sturdy nylon sheath that mounts horizontally or vertically—simple, secure, and clearly built for longevity. Pros: Superb all-steel construction with tight tolerances. The design is perfect! Smooth tool deployment and solid locking mechanisms. Durable materials built for real-world wear. Versatile 17-in-1 configuration covers nearly every EDC need. Exceptional value—rivals tools costing twice as much. Cons: Slightly heavier than some competitors (a fair trade for the strength). Use Cases: Perfect for EDC, vehicle kits, camping, construction work, or general home repairs. Compared to premium multitools from Leatherman or Victorinox, the Gerber Truss delivers nearly identical functionality and build integrity at a fraction of the cost. In short: it’s rugged where it needs to be, refined where it counts, and built to last a lifetime. ... show more

  • Quality.
Style: Gray Standard Sheath
Alright here's what you need to know. I collect these multi tools for fun, and perhaps a little pride. The Gerber truss is probably one of the best for the money that I've seen in a long time, that is if you can get a good one, it's a roll of the dice and it's across the board for all models and makes. The first one right out of the box, was perfect in every way and a delight, so I bought another one and it was a joke, the pliers misaligned, one handle sloppy the other one too firm and a number of tools collided, the Phillips screwdriver doesn't fit the screws, the file not very sharp and the locking mechanism didn't work very well on on one side, it's too loose. About the only thing worth having was the Awl. Obviously it's a return. So what are you getting with the Gerber Truss, if you get lucky and get a good one. It's for medium-duty don't push it too hard or it'll probably get bent out of shape. What I can tell you is the tool combination is one of the best, and you couldn't get me to part with my first one for anything. In conclusion my advice would be if you want it to last, it should be for display purposes only. That way it'll last you a long time, but you may have to dust it off occasionally. Like I say I collect these things, and they are for display only. Sorry if I burst your bubble. I'm not saying not to buy it, it's worth the risk. But if you get a good one, don't try it again. Update; I've had my Gerber trust for a while now, and it's needed a few adjustments as it gets broke in a little bit. So it might be worth your time to buy a good number 9 star bit. It really is for display purposes. The metal frame is made of a very hard lightly brittle spring metal plus it's quite thin, so if it gets sprung will affect every tool in the unit. Just flexing the tool will cause collisions with a number of tools. There is only one narrow bridge that connects the two pieces as one in the handle, and at the other end is a plastic cap. You probably want it loose because if you tighten it, it affects the tension on the tools and can cause collisions. Therefore it's a balancing act between the bearings and the plastic caps. Conclusion, I was very careful with mine, as I'm a mechanic. It's great to show Friends and use as a conversation piece. In that way the Gerber truss has a lot going for it. But I can assure you, if you TRY to use it AS A TOOL, EVEN ONCE IT WILL GET BENT OUT OF SHAPE, and you probably won't like what you see. So enjoy it as a novelty piece. ... show more
