I just received it today and it’s a perfect match to my LV Speedy 30 beeswax purse straps. I wanted a versatile way to carry this purse without the long strap. It has nice structure to it, the gold clamp isn’t too “yellow” and it matches my purpose perfectly.

It could be just a user-error. I did not think the strap replacement would be so short. I thought it would be the shoulder strap replacement for things like Alma PM that does not come with a shoulder strap and the replacement that is now retailing for $520 on the LV Website. This one is more like a bit longer replacement strap for the handle and if that were the case, I would have to find out how to remove the original handle straps and would need two of them. I have other brown purses so I may find something to use with but just as it is, it was not expected. The strap itself is rounded and I find it digging on my shoulder. Also, the ends with clasps do not lie equally: by that I mean, one looks at front and the other looks at the side. But then I think that could be mitigated by constant use. Since I chose Brown, it is not like natural Vachetta. I have no idea how good the leather quality is. Would I recommend it to someone else? I am not so sure.

The material of this vachetta strap does appear to be a good match. Of course it’s new raw leather — I knew it would be — so it’s doesn’t match the patina of my vintage LV Speedy. Sadly, I didn’t notice that my Speedy 25 is missing the D rings on the end to attach a strap to. I removed 1 star for the hardware. It’s not made from the same heavy brass as the bag’s hardware and will never patina in the same way. It looks like the kind of metal that has a “gold” colored coating that will flake off over time. To my eye that lessens the look of luxury.

This very elegant leather purse strap is around 27 inches long so it will have a drop length of about 11 to 12 inches depending on the size of the purse. Over the shoulder will work but the purse will be high. The is a well made quality strap with solid clasps on each end. The strap is rolled leather and looks very smart. The color is very nice and the leather is soft. This strap can be used on any purse or bag with ring hardware for the strap clasp so it is a useful strap. It is an excellent choice for a replacement strap and I think it is a good value for a durable strap.
