  • Fantastic unit, and a huge step up from 3018/3040 conversions
I was using a 3018 to 3040 converted machine for a couple years, and was absolutely plagued with the amount of play in everything, resulting in chatter and poor tolerances and etc. This unit is SO MUCH more solid than the units that run on tubular rails and move the workpiece up and down on the Y axis. Within the first hour of milling, I had a problem: The power wire to the motor burned. It turned out upon autopsy that one of the leads of the main power wire had been severed inside the insulation (and within the drag chain), probably during manufacture rather than just an hour of operation. That began arcing, the arcing melted the insulation as well as the neighboring wire's insulation, and the two shorted. I contacted SainSmart and they were very responsive, immediately shipped me an entire replacement drag chain assembly and a couple other parts that could have potentially been damaged due to the short, and followed up about how it worked. Definitely very well supported - the exact opposite of the first machine I used. In my opinion, if any one thing could be seriously improved (including by the user), it would be this main power wire. It's maybe 18ga in less-than-flexible insulation, and I would replace that with about 14ga flexible wire in silicone insulation plus an outer jacket. But I haven't had any issues with the replacement wire - I just think that could have been a bit better designed, and could be improved by you in your shop very easily. The drag chain has lots of extra space - mine is now also home to a small poly air line, as well as a 120vAC tool cord for the router, so you can stuff other lines of different types through the drag chain as needed, rather than having them dangling around the work area. If you've never assembled any desktop CNC before, you might think this is a pain to assemble. It's not. I was done in maybe 2 and a half hours. A surprising number of parts actually come pre-assembled, so that you only have to do maybe half or a third of the actual assembly in your own shop. I used a lot of thread locker. I don't know that this is necessary, but the fasteners are going to take a lot of vibration, so it's probably a good idea. It's been a pleasure to use. I've used it with the included 300w 48vDC spindle which is very good, a >1HP router, and a 10w laser. The machine has performed exceedingly well all the time. There's SO much more force in the stepper motors than the little 3018 devices (and the torque clutches have much, much higher thresholds), it makes milling completely different. I've milled soft woods, hard woods, acrylic, and a lot of aluminum on this so far. I expect I could probably mill some mild steel with a good carbide bit and a lot of patience, but I haven't tried that yet. I also added some little cardboard flaps on the left and right sides to keep dust and chip out from under the roller wheels for the Y axis. I don't know if they'd have issues rolling over debris, but it could potentially raise the gantry and mess up your Z axis, so I think it's probably smart to cover those with some dust deflectors. ... show more

  • An excellent CNC router An excellent CNC router
Unit arrived very well packaged. Easy setup, I suggest using blue loctite on all the screws. I use UGS to run this machine and Carveco Maker for design. The included 300W spindle is okay for engraving but if you want to cut or mill, the upgrade to a bigger motor is a necessity in my opinion. The ProverXL 4030 came with the dewalt dwp611 mount so you automatically save 65 bucks. I also installed the Foxalien remote switch so that the spindle turns on and off automatically. With the much more powerful dewalt motor cutting and milling are quite easy. This is an excellent machine to have if you’re looking to get into CNC work. I’ve had only one issue in about 150 hours of operation so far. I went to home the machine after completing a job and the Z axis failed to stop when the Z up limit switch actuated. I stopped the machine and after some brief troubleshooting determined that the Z limit wire harness had a broken wire. The switches both worked and the controller received the OPEN/CLOSED signal okay. I emailed SainSmart at 3 pm MST with a summary of the issue and by 6 pm I had received a response with an apology and a promise to send a new Z axis limit harness. They were out of stock but said they should be able to send a new wire harness within a week. True to their word they shipped me the new harness at no cost to me and the customer support rep, Joey, kept in touch throughout the process including checking in to insure i had shipping updates and confirmed delivery. Very easy install for the new wire harness and i’m happily back to running my machine. I was disappointed I encountered this failure but the customer support was outstanding. If you’d like to get into CNC routing, you can’t go wrong with the ProverXL 4030. Upgrade the spindle motor and get busy! ... show more

  • CNC Working
The package arrived very quickly, I must see that everything is fine, in a few days I will be assembling the machine and I will update this review, I will give more details and photos. Thank you. Update Well I was able to assemble the machine without problems and it is my first cnc, the manual is very easy, even the software for the G code is also easy to configure, I think it is the best option in quality and price, since other brands are very expensive . Update 02/03/2021 Perhaps these details will help you decide whether to buy this machine or not. The machine works well, it can be improved by increasing the size, since the working area is not very large despite the size of the machine. on the other hand you can put a new router. Now in my case I have had problems with my laptop and apparently the drivers, a compatibility problem and what happens is that the grblcontrol candle software works very slowly, especially if the design has many vectors. Windows 7 or 10. This could be fixed with a simple update I would say. Another problem that I noticed is that the controller of this cnc seems to be sensitive to voltage changes, that is, if someone connects or disconnects an electrical equipment in the house, the machine can stop and the work will have to be thrown away. I clarify this is my experience and perhaps this evaluation will also help the Genmitsu team to improve their cnc equipment. ... show more

  • Absolute nightmare
Buy this if you want to spend the next three hours setting up the machine only to discover it won't work and then you get to spend another 45 minutes disassembling it and repackaging it to be returned. -The drivers don't work (Mac) -The USB stick provided (software and drivers) is type A (large USB) not USB-C so you need an adapter (not included) if you have a Macbook or newer computer. -Cable that connects the computer to the router is also USB-A. Macbook won't recognize device even with an adapter. -The instructions are absurd and just flat out wrong at times (have a look at them, Amazon posts a PDF). -Software programs like Easel aren't compatible. It's just a nightmare all around... ... show more

  • Lovely Heavy Duty CNC Ganty
I'm doing some cabinetry work for my house and found myself in need of a machine to cut arches for cabinet doors. Last time I did this I used my CNC milling machine, but the table size is limited and cutting wood on a metal machine tool can be a mess to clean up. So I started thinking, maybe one of these CNC routers would work. The problem that I saw was that most of these router setups are pretty light weight. I figured I would need to use at least a 1/4" router bit to be able to cut my 1" thick material. I saw this kit and the frame looked a lot stiffer then the competition. So I took a chance and ordered the machine. The machine came with in a few days and I was very impressed. The frame was made out of very robust aluminum extrusions and was beautifully anodized. The construction of the machine was very solid. My gamble was paying off. So I started testing the machine out. I quickly realized that the supplied spindle wasn't stiff enough to make the heavy cuts I was needing with the 1/4" router bit. The machine came with a wood router mount so I installed one of my small routers on the machine. To my liking, the machine was now stiff enough to make 1/4" deep cuts with the 1/4" router bit with no noticeable chatter. I'd just have to program multiple cutting passes but SheetCAM can do that easily. I then drew out a profile using AutoCAD and then imported it into SheetCAM to generate the G-Code. To my surprise, the latest version of SheetCAM had a GRBL post processor that seemed to work. After some testing, it looks like this machine will work fine for my cabinetry work. Heck, now that I have the CNC router, I might even try adding some carvings to my work. We'll see. I also bought the 24" extension upgrade kit and the aluminum spoil board so I can handle all of my door sizes. Both upgrades are gorgeous anodized aluminum construction. I also purchased the Offline Controller module. While it is a little bit cumbersome to use, for about $40, it is nice not getting saw dust all over my laptop whenever I need to cut something. So Over all I'm very pleased with the machine. I only gave it 4-stars because it did require some tech support on a few instances. But I have to give 5-stars to Sainsmart's technical support as they really went out of their way to make sure the machine was up and running properly. I was very impressed and appreciative of how easy they made the whole process. Thanks for the help. ... show more

  • Great machine - incredible value
We purchased this for our company to add general purpose CNC capability to our tool set. It really is an incredible machine for the money. We have used it for wood, acrylic, polycarbonate so far with very impressive results. There certainly is a learning curve to it, but with all the available software packages available, there is something that will fit your needs for sure. I got up to speed pretty quickly with the wide array of youtube channels dedicated to CNC and even specifically the sainsmart tools. I have been especially impressed with James Deans channel for all things CNC. Additionally sainsmart's facebook groups are very active and I've gotten a lot of good feedback on there. When I was not able to solve issues on my own I reached out semismart support. I have been super impressed with the quick and comprehensive responses that I have received. I have worked with George on a couple of issues and he has walked me through the issues until they were resolved. My latest case had to do with accuracy and it should be noted that there is calibration that may need to be done on the machine before you get really accurate results. In my case I was able to get the accuracy dialed in for all axis within .010". I could likely get better and George mentioned that the machine should be able to get repeatable accuracy of +-.1mm = +-.00394". I'm also super impressed with the robust mechanical design and the wide range of upgrades available including bed size! Really can't go wrong with this machine! ... show more

  • This is a great Machine !
I bought this machine as my first ever CNC machine, because of it's size, design and construction. I'm new to CNC and did a lot of research, watched lots of videos and did a lot of reading. This machine came in a timely manor, was well packaged and was easy to assemble and get started. But, That's not what makes this machine great. After the unpacking and assembly it was very evident that the machine is very well built and of high quality components and materials. But, that's not what makes this machine great. I started small, learning the software and making little projects. The machines set up and functions were precise and produced very good results, However, I did have some issues and questions through the learning curve, so I had to rely on The Sainsmart support team. My contact was a gentleman by the name of Jamie. The response time was extremely fast, very professional and like the machine itself, very accurate. Jamie is extremely knowledgable about the products, the operation and all the technical aspects of their machines. Jamie is very patient and accommodating to my low skills and lack of technical knowledge. Jamie and the Sainsmart support, now that's what makes this machine GREAT !! If you are looking for a good CNC to start your journey in to the CNC world, THIS IS THE PLACE YOU WANT TO BE !!! ... show more

  • Great machine at a great value.
I love my CNC. It is well made and functions as designed. The instructions are slick and quite good, except, and be forewarned, the listing of screws included is somewhat mislabeled, I spent an hour thinking I used the wrong screws on some part of it because the instructions listed the wrong number of them should be included. Otherwise, I highly recommend it. It did take about 8 hours of assembly time and probably another 40 to fully learn how it functions. ... show more
