Features

  • An effective working area of 15.7 x 15.7 x 3.1 is large enough for most daily wood carving projects. The redesigned Z-axis carriage makes swapping a spindle easier. Adding more screw holes on the non-all-in-one Z-axis carriage allows you to install the larger spindle higher for extra overfeed height.
  • New Steel HSS Frame - all new redesigned frame structure, each axis is composed of two 16mm Steel HSS linear tubes and a lead screw motion drive, dual Y axis rails, and all metal frame. This new high-rigidity structure ensures the stability and accuracy of the milling machine.
  • Still based on open-source Grbl v1.1, the 4040-PRO CNC router has stepped up to more powerful but silent Toshiba TB6S109 drivers with 32-bit chips. Upgrades include extended function ports like a dedicated 3 Pin Laser Port, Air Assistance Pump Port, and MPG Port.
  • All main parts are pre-assembled and it just takes about 15 minutes to finish the whole machine assembly. The spoilboard is combined by two pieces of MDF boards. Each MDF board could be replaced individually. You dont need to replace the whole spoilboard when a panel gets damaged.
  • The 4040-PRO CNC machine is supplied with 42mm and 52mm spindle mounts. The additional 65mm (B0BRZSY475), 69mm (B0BRZSVVK3) spindle mount, laser module, and other upgraded accessories are available to order. You can easily upgrade the machine according to your needs.   • It supports adding the 4th-axis rotary module kit. The 4th-axis kit enables your 4040-PRO desktop CNC to carve from different angles and positions or with the right software full 3D rotary caving.

When viewing other CNC machine this one stood out to me. Nice neat machine as far as wiring goes. The machine is very well built. Only issue I have had so far was the fan became very noisy in the control box. Got in touch with Sainsmart. They was very quick in getting back to me about the issue. Sent a video of what the noise the fan was making and they said they would send another one out to me and was very sorry this happened. Replaced the fan everything is good now. I loved the customer service they followed up with me during the while process. This machine came with MDF spoil board which is ok but I up graded to the aluminum track spoil board. It is also made very well and am very pleased with it. Also ordered off line controller. I like everything about this machine and all the upgrades I did. Customer service is number 1. I love how well-built this CNC machine is. Assembly is very straightforward, and the degree of preassembly is very impressive. The machine ran great with the included 75 watt spindle, but I decided to upgrade to the more powerful 300 watt spindle Genmitsu spindle/power supply. The first power supply didn't work correctly, but customer support responded promptly to my questions, and sent a new spindle/power supply, which works great! I really recommend this machine as an excellent step up from the 3018 machines. ... show more

Bought this to dip my toe into CNC. I've used it mostly to carve catcall trays, trivets, and cutting board stands using small bowl bits and end mills. Nice to turn this loose on a job while I do another things in my hobby shop. Assembly took me about 30 minutes. Tools to assemble where included, as well as some 30 degree vBits and some spare parts like extra homing switches. Documentation was easy to follow and all parts in the included container were labeled. The machine feels sturdy. The included spindle has ER11 collet, and I think the included collet insert was 4 mm? I purchased a 1/4 collet insert so that I could use bits that were more available to me. I've since upgraded the spindle to a Makita 701C router, which it handles just fine, just have to be aware that this isn't going to cut at 200+ inches per minute- i think max speed is like 78 inches per minute and I hesitate to push it that hard. For what I've used it for, it's been great. It's now a fixure in my shop, I've built an enclosure for it, added the dust boot, and plan to add the hybrid spoil board in the future. 4 stars because I don't see many spare parts for it on Sainsmart's website. Things like backlash nuts will eventually wear out and I'd prefer to go to the manufacture to get the replacements instead of hacking something else in there. Came very nicely packed and easy to set up. Closer to 30+ minutes with the hand tools provided. Speaking of the tools provided. The screw driver is bent like someone used it as a crowbar. Iv reached out twice to genmitsu about the stuck left rail. And heard nothing. As im still available for a return with amazon if i dont hear back from genmitsu itll be on it way back to amazon possibly for the foxalien instead. Update: after nearly 2 months of very slow emails back and forth, they provided a new machine. Jamie was a very nice representative and easy to work with, but don’t expect quick responses. And don’t expect this machine without many modifications to do what the youtubers claim it can do. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I purchased originally 3018 pro but one bearing came out completely from wherever it was seated and returned it. I purchased this one and what a difference! Everything fits, frame is rigid and everything worked out of box in Easel on my 2011 iMac. I had two minor issues at the beginning. After first homing base board was squirted along X and Y axis with most likely oil from bearings. It's a cosmetic issue - but you want get second board and they are not cheap. Second issue - one of bolts completely unscrewed during job, and spindle started to twist in the slot. I caught it early, tightened bolts and no problem since them. One downside of this machine is relatively weak spindle. It will cut through plywood and engrave details that will blow your mind. Unfortunately if your planning to do anything with real wood - better plan for router upgrade. And this is also not cheap. After 3018 fiasko i was considering 4030 proverxl v2 - but it's not worth paying 2.5x for it - especially that you still need to upgrade to real router for proper wood work. ... show more

I had a hard time to start with this machine, as the y axis was not working properly. I emailed the company (not Amazon) and within 12 hours through trouble shooting, we found the issue (a motor on the y axis). Joey at Seinsmart was great and super helpful and free of charge they rushed out a new motor and a few days later I was up and running! I also got the 10w laser and air assist pump unit and have been having so much fun doing laser cutting and etching. I am using lightburn for that, and it works perfectly with the 4040-pro! I am so happy I got this machine, and was very very happy with the customer support, they really care! ... show more
