I bought this phone few years ago, and never did the review...Believe it or not I have had this phone for years and it is still going great.. There is a lot of room on the phone for apps and photos....There is even a slot for a mini SD card witch I have yet to use for starage... The camera on the phone takes great pictures. ... show more

As a cellphone, this Galaxy A23 5G UW is fantastic. It is an awesome upgrade from a 2014 Galaxy S5. It has great reception, reliable connection to Verizon's network, plus a headphone jack and a microSD card slot that it shares with the SIM card. It currently has a 32 GB microSD card installed, loaded with 13 GB's of mp3's, plus 5 GB's of GPS map data for the HEREWeGo GPS app. No issues whatsoever. There is one niggle to report, however - cases, or the lack thereof. There are actually two versions of the Galaxy A23 - the regular 5G version and this Verizon specific 5G UW version. The UW is so named because it supports Verizon's Ultra Wideband 5G, also known as millimeter wave 5G and C-band 5G on bands N260, 2N61 and N77, in addition to standard 5G on band N78. This necessitates some internal differences that led to a slight change in position of the Volume and Power button. They are about 3/16" lower on this 5G UW version. In practical terms, this means that all of the hundreds of Galaxy A23 5G phone cases that you see listed will NOT function on this version. They will fit, but the case buttons will not work because they do not line up with the buttons on the phone. There are only two cases that actually work and both are thirty bucks: one from Otterbox, search for ASIN B0BVGWGBL4 , and the Itskins - Hybridr Solid Case for Samsung Galaxy A23 5G Uw - Purple and Transparent. That's it. The Otterbox only comes in black and the Itskins in purple and transparent. 11/13/2024 Update Just purchased a second one for myself since my own 2014 Galaxy S5 is starting to lose service in more areas due to 4G LTE frequencies being repurposed for 5G. Activated without issue on Page Plus Cellular, which is now a Verizon owned MVNO. Now have signal pretty much everywhere, both 5G and 4G LTE. The Samsung One UI interface is snappy, with no lag perceptible. This second unit came updated to Android 14 and One UI 6.0. The first one is running Android 13 and One UI 5.1. I was able to copy over all of my data via the Samsung SmartSwitch app, no problem. I also moved over the 64 GB microSD card from my Galaxy S5 to this Galaxy A23 without difficulty, which saved a ton of transfer time for my music mp3's. 05/22/2025 Update I wanted to add that contrary to another review, the A23 5G UW does have NFC. I've included a picture of the pull down shade showing its icon - it's the third button from the left. I use it with my YubiKey 5 NFC security key to store and access OTP's and Passkey's; although there is an issue with the Yubico Authenticator app not being able to access the camera for some reason. This makes it impossible to use this phone to add a new account to the YubiKey via QR code, though you can still input the key manually. However, there is no problem reading the YubiKey 5 via NFC - just hold the key against the back of the phone, next to the camera island. BE CAREFUL WITH AMAZON RENEWED! My bank information was transmitted the first time I accessed my mobile banking app on this renewed phone. I bought this phone after searching for a small screen. It was smaller than my previous phone and was my first Samsung (Yes, Was. I got rid of it). I was disappointed with how different Samsung everything is from Motorola. I really liked my Motorola. I set up the phone and was getting used to it. I received a check and used mobile deposit with my bank. Within 3 hours I was receiving calls about "fraudulent" charges on one of my cards. The scammers specifically mentioned this phone and asked about the name on it - I'm assuming it was the previous owners name as I bought it under Amazon Renewed. This was the first time I had used the phone with my mobile account or with any account. Luckily, I was able to get my spouse else to call the bank while still on the phone and lock everything down. After many phone calls, talking to many people, and a trip to speak with a banker in person, I think everything is secure but I'm still really wary about trusting any phone from Amazon Renewed. Yes, I ran a diagnostic on the phone - nothing showed up. Whatever was on it was hidden very well. For the phone itself - it worked fine. I'm not a Samsung fan, but was willing to give it a try. I LOVED the fingerprint sensor in the power button, which is one of the reasons I bought it. It's incredibly sensitive though. ... show more

I bought this phone to replace my last Samsung Galaxy A23 5G that unexpectedly began to not function. I'm horrible with phones and their care (often drop them), but that one had lasted several years with no issues. This one came quickly, sooner than the expected arrival date. It was even cheaper than the original one I purchased. I was hesitant to buy a refurbished phone, but I really liked this model and wanted the same one again. I'm glad I took the risk and got it. Works great and came in great condition. I only had two small issues. First, it didn't come with the small pin it usually does to open the SIM card slot. Luckily, I had a pin small enough to open the slot to remove the tray to add the cards. The second, I had some difficulty setting up the phone. It wasn't connecting to my Wifi signal and it was also giving me issues logging into my Google account for set up. My previous phone I didn't have such a difficult time with that. It took awhile, but once everything was finished it was working great. Overall, I'm satisfied with the product. Great phone for the price with numerous features that can be found (and even not found!) in more expensive phone models. Highly recommend if you want a quality phone without paying a hefty price tag. ... show more

Phone works Camera is ok, but it inverts the picture Good condition, only hide tiny scratches only visible up really when phone is off, works with T mobile, My complain is that battery does not last long and glitchy sometimes and my phone is not really charging these days, I haven't had the phone long I got it in February at first I thought it was the charger or the box or the outlet but I have tried multiple chargers and tried different outlets and it's becoming a hassle to try to get it to charge, so even though the phone is working I don't know how long it's going to last because usually my phones that I had in the past would do this but only after like 3 to 4 years and be cracked but I only had these phone for a few months and it's having charging issues and is not cracked ... show more
