  • Good stuff
Style: Ball Bearning
I've seen many mixed reviews for this item. I wanted a center punch to keep handy in my glove box in case of emergency...and chose this one. Appears to be quite sturdy and at the price, it's a great value. It might not survive hard and constant use, but that was not my intended purpose. I like it!

  • 2nd responce This is NOT a precision Instrument
Style: Utility
2nd Responce I was pleasantly surprized once I shapened the point up and compared the indent with my UK Eclipse Automatic Center punch from almost 60 Years ago the indents are almost Identical. If the body was of toughened steel I would have given it a 5 star rating. First responce it looked nice but not as heavy as I would have expected, But I think this tool is mainly for DIY and wood work use. So well priced I was also suprised to find the tool was not sharp. I would like to add that I have net tried the tool as yet, But when I do, I will stretch spring to improve its performance on Metal. My Background is a Tool Maker and lost my one several years ago. (Just Found it) So I speak as an experenced user of this type of tool. ... show more

  • As good as Starret
Style: Steel
An Excellent general purpose auto center punch as long as you ensure the screw-in tip is securely tightened (screwed in, CW, as viewed from the tip) before each use. If you don't, there's a chance the tip will break off at the threads meaning you'll have to get a 'readily available', new tip. Bang for your buck? On Amazon, a new tip ~$10, a new tool ~$17. You decide. After successfully using the same punch for over 5 years, I broke my 1st tip a few months back. I tried several "Lo-Priced, Menards, Lifetime Guarantee" punches that only worked for 10-20 cycles before beginning to fail the auto-re-cocking routine. If it won't re-cock it wont fire. So I took the broken one back to the, store one town south of me and was handed a brand new one in the package. Before the 4th trip, I put the horse back in front of the cart and bought a brand new Central Tool from Amazon. The old one continues laying in my drill drawer needing a new tip. It sorta, but not 100%, reminds me of the old double edged safety razor gimmick where a Blade Mfgr gave you a free shaver then you spent the rest of your life paying for razor blades. • Not a functioning tool!
Style: Heavy Duty Steel
The media could not be loaded. The tip is supposed to screw into the tool.. but it is apparently not made for the same tool, it's able to put in and out without screwing in. It's obviously the wrong part! Do not buy!
