I grow most of our veggies indoors and some of my plants are 2-4 years old. Since I use plant food for every feeding and we have well water, over time, there is a buildup of salts and nutrients in the soil. Although I do periodically flush the soil in the potted plants, this task becomes more difficult in plants that are are 10-15 gallon pots. I started using FloraKleen a couple of months ago in my potted plants, and it seems to be helping a lot. I am not seeing the mineral buildup on pots when I pot up plants, and my plants seem much happier - especially the older ones. I water the plants using 5 cc's of the FloraKleen per gallon of water, and water until water drains into the trays. Then I syphon off the drainage water. I am using this FloraKleen once a month, and my plants seem much happier and are flourishing. This really does seem to help remove the salts from softened water and the excess minerals created by plant foods. So far, I would recommend this product for periodic use on potted plants, especially older ones. If my opinion changes, I will update this review. Aside from following the directions for use, I recommend putting a smaller portion into a separate container for use and storing the quart away. This is because like a few other liquid products from GH, Flora Kleen will mold -- overtime -- if introduced to organic impurities, so don't share droppers with this one. I do wish that sometime in the future GH would make this a powder option in order to avoid this, as it stores more better. 😌 ... show more

i used to run so many gallons of water to drop the PPMs in my coco. im talking 15-20 gallons per 5 gallon pot. now i use 1/3 the water using florakleen to drop it around the same ppms as using just water. its not expensive either! def will never flush without using this. i also like to use every now and then on my just water days to help with any salt build up that could be accuring ... show more

    • Stay below 2000 ppm!! or your plants will die

If you are using GH products, you should be using a EC/ppm meter. Their recommendations for feeding get very close to dangerous for plant roots (2000 ppm). If you're not using deionized water between feedings you'll have salt build-up. This will be obvious with clay pellets because white crystals will form on them. FloraKleen is great for every once in a while or specifically when your nutrient solution goes over, say, 1300 ppm ... show more
