The Generac 6485 Maintenance Kit is for standby home generators with 20-Kilowatt 999cc engines. Scheduled maintenance is a necessity for all standby generators. The Generac 6485 Air Cooled Scheduled Maintenance Kit offers all the hardware necessary to perform maintenance on your Generac air- cooled generator. Maintenance is recommended every 200-hours or 2-years and if your generator is running in a dusty environment a more frequent maintenance schedule may be required. The Generac 6485 Maintenance Kit contains a pre- cleaner, air filter, oil filter, oil funnel, (2) spark plugs, blue cloth, instruction manual and preventative maintenance reminder sticker. Parts for this kit are the exact same as what came originally in my generator 22kW. The process to change oil, oil filter and air filter is easy and simple. Before draining oil you must manually start engine and let it run five minutes to allow oil to drain freely. You will need something to drain your oil into and some paper towels or rags for any oil that spills out when replacing filter. This piticular kit does not come with oil and can be purchased at your local auto parts store. I used synthetic 5w30w. To change spark plugs you may need to remove the small metal protection plate with a 10mm socket. There are two bolts on each side that secures the metal plates (easy to remove). Once you have the plates removed it is very easy to remove and replace the spark plugs. The whole process to tune up your generator should only take 30 minutes or less. Tools I used : spark plug socket, 10mm socket, ratchet, and a oil filter wrench. ... show more
