I don't own a heavy winter coat as I live in an area of the country where temperatures seldom dip below 40F/4C at night. I am about to embark on a trip where the forecast temperate will average -30F/-34C. A heavy winter coat was needed in short order, but as I will rarely use it, I didn't want to spend a significant amount of money on it. But I was having a hard time deciphering which coats might protect me in such extreme cold, so I purchased this coat as well as two others to try on. I am 6'/183 cm tall and weight 195 lbs/88.5 kg. I usually where a Large Tall in tops. Here is my quick analysis after trying each one on inside for five minutes each: GAMYSE Men's Mountain Waterproof Ski Snow Jacket Winter Windproof Rain Jacket. This one fit as expected, with good sleeve length and appropriate waist length. It is heavy, though not quite as heavy and as the JYG coat. It was as warm, if not a tad warmer than the FARVALUE. It has a snap at the bottom that somewhat secures the waist. It gave me the most confidence of these three coats that it would keep cold air out. The front, neck, and hood also snap shut. It covers the neck very well and the hood is an appropriate size. It has a chest pocket that is on the smaller size; my iPhone 11 just fits. So this is the one I took to Northern Alaska and I am so glad I did. Temperatues averaged -30F/-34C and one day I was outside for 90 minutes when the windchill was -50F/-45C. This coat kept the cold out! I was extremely impressed and grateful of how it performed. If it performs this well in this extreme cold, I am very confident it will perform extremely well in more common and moderate situations. FARVALUE Mens Winter Coats Thicken Puffer Jacket Warm Winter Parka Padded Outwear with Hood. A Large fit as expected, and even the sleeves were a good length for me. But the overall length of the coat was the shortest of all three I tried on. I definitely felt it was not long enough and that cold air would easily invade from the waist area. The fact it didn't really have anything on the bottom to secure it, only magnified that concern. It was the lightest of the three coats I tried on, and although not the softest felt I was wearing a cloud. Although this is not down-filled, it certainly felt that way. But the lack of heavy weight also left me concerned it might not be the best in blocking wind. It was toasty warm wearing inside, so if that was the only factor to consider, I would have gambled it would keep me warm. The chest pocket was plenty deep for most mobile telephones. The front, neck, and hood snapped shut, which was convenient. The hood seemed a normal size. But, alas, I returned this one. JYG Men's Winter Thicken Coat Warm Parka Puffer Jacket with Removable Hood - I followed the sizing chart that indicated I needed an XL. However, I was swimming in it! I reordered a size L. This was by far the softest of the coats I tried on. The sleeves fit me appropriately. It is heavy weight, but after wearing for five minutes inside, the least warm. The heavy weight suggested it would protect against wind. I'm sure it is plenty warm for most cold temperatures in the US, but I need the warmest coat I can get for my budget. The chest pocket was rather shallow. I don't ski so unsure if it would hold a ski ticket, but it would only hold a mobile telephone on the smaller side. The front of the jacket, neck, and hood all close with buttons, which is significantly less convenient that snaps. The hood is definitely oversized. The fake fur lining negatively impacted my ability to see. Though I understand it is removable and would have done so had I kept this coat. There is nothing to secure the waist, so I feared cold air would easily invade my core area. I returned it.

I'll start with the fact I had to order three of the Gemyse Mens Mountain Ski Jackets before I got one worth keeping. I ordered the first one on the "try before you buy" plan. I was delivered in timely fashion and fit nicely, but it had no hood and had a seam that was not sewn. I ordered #2 and it showed up in two days, it fit well but one of the pocket zippers did not work! So, I sent both back and decided to look around. I searched other online sporting- goods retailers and just couldn't find a coat that I liked, so I ordered the third one. Number three showed up in two days and the fit and finish of it are fine. Now have to figure out how to get the wrinkles out. The attached photos are after it's been hanging for 4 days. I'll probably end up washing it and ironing it, per the Care Instructions. OK what I like: 1. It's a good looking jacket. 2. It fits me well. I am 5'-7" approximately 175lbs, medium build. It fits nicely with jeans a a T-Shirt and It fits with a T-Shirt and a lightweight hoodie on underneath it. 3. It's warm. I haven't had a chance to wear it much but have been out for maybe 5-10 minutes in 12°F weather and it was very comfy and warm. I bought it to be my winter jacket. What I don't like: 1. The wrinkles, but I'm sure that will resolve itself after washing, drying and ironing 2. The zippers could be heavier duty, longevity is yet to be seen 3. It's a bit noisy. I won't be wearing it to go hunting! All in all, considering just the jacket I am able to keep, it seems to be a nice winter coat. I'd give it 4-1/2 stars and maybe 5 starts if it lasts for a few years or so.

I just moved to Texas from California and needed a winter jacket that could handle colder climates especially with the high winds that seem to NEVER END here. I also wanted a simple style, single color, with storage pockets inside and out for gloves, hats, phone, keys, etc. I received the jacket in a couple days as expected and immediately gave it a try outdoors during a heavy rain and wind storm. The jacket performed extremely well! I stayed warm and dry especially while wearing gloves and the hood secured in place around my head using the drawstring keeping my bald head comfortable. I like the soft shell inside as well. Overall, this seems to be a well made jacket that fits true to size (I'm a large at 180lbs) and I have not seen a downside to this coat especially for the price. If you are looking for a well made, warm and comfortable, water and wind resistant winter coat then I would highly recommend this product.

Read a bunch of people saying they wore a large and this coat fit just right. I'm 5'9" about 225lbs so I decided to go with a XL. Prefect fit. Not too long in the waist/butt area, the arms are the correct length, zipped up I should be able to wear a sweater or another layer. (but do not think I'll need to) Love that the hood is detachable and the sleeves have an insert in them to place your hands thru (if you wish) to help keep the wind and cold out. It's made of material that is wind resistant and should also be water proof as advertised. The inside has a fleece like fur that is not too bulky like some coats. Definitely a good ski weather coat. It's warm but so far not too warm... Being in the mid-west, it gets cold, but on days in the upper 30s, this will still work as a good coat. Plenty of pockets and the inside pocket for your phone or whatever has a zipper to keep it secure. Ok here's a minor issue maybe... The zipper for this pocket is kind a wimpy and small so it may break easy, but we'll have to see. Suggestion to this company is to put a better zipper or use Velcro in future coats. Other than that I have no issues... and would recommend this coat. Would buy again.
