I didn’t really know what to expect of this item before I purchased it as a gift for my five year old. He and my three-year-old really enjoyed breaking apart the block of rock and they lit up whenever they would find the stones and crystals inside. If you have more than one child, I would highly suggest getting a second chisel-type tool so that they don’t fight over the one that is included. The main block does create quite a bit of dust when chiseling away at it, so just be conscious of that and it is a bit messy, but as long as you lay down something under the block to catch the rock bits and dust, you are good. You may also have to help chisel way at the rock because my five-year-old did have some trouble with the bigger bits. The stones hidden inside are cool and you get a little pamphlet that explains what each of the stones and crystals are. I thought it was fun for the kids and even for myself, a fun little discovery activity to do together, and I would highly recommend! ... show more

This stone block of digging for the 20 germs out of it was absolutely fantastic my seven year old granddaughter just your loved it, but it was kind a hard to dig through and it took a while for her to get through it, but that was the fun of it to discover all the different kind of germs that were in there in the illustrated booklet to tell about each one awesome and we highly recommend it ... show more

It’s a nice thing but for a 8 year old who read 20 stones and only got 18 is not fun! He doesn’t accept that he got 18 and maybe he could have gotten 20. Not s cool thing for him. Very upset!

The stones were nice and a fun gift, however the plaster was extremely hard for the tools that were provided. Had to use a real hammers and screw driver and bang on it pretty hard.

My eight year old daughter loved this! She loves rocks and this was very exciting for her. She spent so much time and was still having fun that eventually it got too late and she had to put it up and save it for another day!

I really liked this. The only think I have to say is that there is a chance you may get duplicates. I got two of the same gemstone; however the other 18 were different gemstone. It is a pretty good product and I would definitely buy this again!
