  • Gemini XGA-3000 Pro Power Amp
style: 3000W Pattern: Amplifier
Hi I'm Kman, When I first purchase the XGA-3000 I did a lot of research on the different lines of lower priced power amps. I am just starting my first mobile karaoke business and learned the right amp can be crucial to my set up. The Gemini XGA-3000 got great reveiws (4 stars), but almost as important published its specs on power to the speakers in dbs and rms. Anyway the following kinda stuff talks real loud to me: Warranty: 2 YEAR XGA-3000 True Power from the Professionals! The new XGA SERIES Professional Power Amplifier comes designed to deliver the maximum wattage and amount of power to any speaker. Each XGA amp is durable and lightweight, and offers an unmatched value in their class. With their powerful, reliable performance, the XGA Series amps easily handle any amount of usage and can deliver deep pulsating lows. Features: 3000 Watt IPP* High Power output to drive professional loudspeakers without clipping 2 x 150 RMS @ 8 ohms stereo 2 x 200 RMS @ 4 ohms stereo 1 x 400 RMS @ 8 ohms bridged Front-to-rear airflow and cooling fan for thermal stability and reliability XLR and ¼" (6.5mm Jack) balanced and RCA unbalanced inputs Limiter circuit switch for amp output protection Stereo, Parallel Mono and Mono Bridge Variable speed fan for low noise Comprehensive front panel indicators including signal, clip, protect 3 Speakon outputs for Channels A/B/Bridge 5-way binding banana plug channel outputs Bridge control switch DC output protection and Short circuit protection Frequency response 10Hz - 50kHz at 1.5 dB Ground lift switch Total Harmonic Distortion: Less than 0.1% Input sensitivity & Impedance: 0.77v Signal to Noise (20 Hz - 20 kHz) > 90dB Input Impedance: 20K ohms THD @ 20HZ - 20KHZ - 0.1 % Damping factor: >350 power, protection, clipping, and bridged LED indicators AC line fuse protection Thermal Cutoff Protection power up/down protection slow start protection 115/230V switchable Dimensions: 19 x 13.8 x 3.5 inches weight: 19.04 pounds Well I looked at a lot amps under $250 and this one had the rep and the specs I looked for-so I got it. My testing reveiw: I have it in line with my PC with 620G XHD, my CAVS DVD 105G-multi/CDG/USB-XHD/MPEG4/HDCD player, my Gemini MM-3000 3 mic/5 channel Mixer, and my Gemini PA-7000 PreAmp, driving two 15" KCH subs, four 8" mids, and two 8" singers floor monitors. So far I haven't turned the PreAmp OR the Amp up more than 1 o'clock and I AM GETTING SOME SERIOUS BIG AWESOME CLEAR SOUND WITH ALMOST NO DISTORTION. This is with it set up with a balanced 8 ohms per speaker setup side, so that's the lowest power setting of 150 rms. Of course I don't want to push it. For another $170 (or less)I plan to get another for output B on my PreAmp, for speaker upgrades to larger venues. That'a my review. For the money as a no frills Pro Amp I think it gets the job done great if you set up your system correctly and have a good mixer and PreAmp. 5 stars from me. Kman 4/16/11 ... show more

  • A Competent, Good-Value Amplifier
style: 3000W Pattern: Amplifier
A competent amplifier that works. I like mine and happily bought another after several years. As usual, the nominal peak power output is entirely divorced from reality, so read the specs to see what it's capable of in your application. I found that a single XGA-3000 can quite easily drive my Peavey PR-15 speaker pair well beyond what I'd ever require in a typical midsize indoor space. Pros: - Sufficient connection options for both line in and speaker out. - Robust connection terminals. - Good value at this price ($150-190 in recent years). Cons: - Volume switches feel cheap. Every time I touch it I feel I need to be careful. - Resistance on volume switches can differ and is much less than I would prefer. Even going over it with a dusting brush is enough to move them. You could rub against one by mistake and crank it. - Loud fans in the recent version. - Unit is ever-so-slightly too tall to be racked adjacent to other hardware. Version 1 of this product had some screws that protruded from the bottom. Version 2 removes these screws, but increases the height of the front face by about 2 mm. In both versions, it's just enough to make mounting all your hardware flush impossible. This is a major frustration and would add difficulty for people with small cabinet racks or portable cases. Since I last purchased this product around 2010, there have been some slight changes, which I understand but slightly disapprove of: - front color changed from deep grey to black - volume knob size greatly increased - RCA input option removed ... show more

  • It's loud, and not in a good way.
style: 3000W Pattern: Amplifier
The power amp works, but it's very loud. I used it to power a 15" PA speaker and even at high volume I could still hear the fans running on the amp. If it weren't for the fan noise, this would be a really nice power amp for home use. I like that it has xlr and 1/4" inputs, and it can be bridged for the output if need be. If price is an issue, this is very affordable. ... show more

  • Amp has weight, both in pounds and WATTS
style: 5000W Pattern: Amplifier
The positives: * I have owned over 10 amps so far. * This unit is by far is the best to date. * Sound quality is superb * Low noise though system at idle (very important) * Matched to the correct speakers, it will ROCK OUT *I now rock 2 Gemini amps, *I will say adding a proper EQ really adds quality. -However don't go cheap! I purchased Rockville EQ's and it was a waste. They produced a hum at idle that drove me nuts. Now running all DBX EQ units. Far superior! ----the negatives: * I purchased this to replace a similar wattage unit, should have done it sooner * The weight of the unit, but what do you expect form a pro amp? * Does not fit well in a standard rack setup. I wanted it on the bottom due to its larger size, however the way the rack ears are required it to be the higher amp in the lower case. Not a big deal, just a little thing * biggest negative is you don't have one! ... show more

  • Works great
style: 3000W Pattern: Amplifier
My other amp lost sound on one side so I had to quick replace it. Wasn't sure about this amp Yes it's certainly not expensive, but it worked flawlessly. I just do very small gigs so I didn't need anything fancy. This does exactly what I need.
