The adjustable string was a lifesaver, ensuring it never got lost. When he didn't need it on his head, he could easily flip it back, and it hung comfortably around his neck. It also features side buttons that allow you to adjust the brim. If it's not too sunny, you can button the sides up. But if the sun is intense, flip them down for extra protection. So I bought this hat to replace another Boonie hat I got at Target on an impulse buy. After receiving this hat, I returned my Target purchase because I liked this one so much. First of all, the all cotton construction is with quality fabric that has heavy duty stitching to reinforce the brim of the hat and other pressure points. The inside has no liner, which makes it extremely comfortable to wear and breathable for your noggin. The brim of the hat is 3 1/4" wide, which provides ample shade when out in the sun. The button downs are riveted to the hat and seem durable, with the back of the male button being located just under the headband inside the hat, which means no irritation of your head. All in all, I am pleasently surprised at the design, quality, and durability of the hat. I ordered in tan and one in blue. The blue fit the tan was tight. Both were large/extra. I kept the blue but had to return the beige and decided I no longer needed two.
