This is a positive review with two small caveats at the bottom. Admittedly, I've never really cared to get professional manicures (I've had my nails done at a salon four times in my life). I wish I was more into it because I think I'd take better care of my nails. When my cuticles get dry, I tend to pick at them, create hangnails, etc. Not great. With the pandemic, I saw a lot of folks trying at-home kits like these, so I thought I'd give it a go with the goal of simply taking better care of my hands/nails. When I finished this first go, it left me with the same feeling that I've had historically once I leave a salon—I actually enjoy looking at my nails. They feel pretty, professionally done, and I don't want to screw them up. The fact that this kit will last me awhile at the same price as a salon manicure is really great for me. I truly do recommend this kit—but also know this glowing review is coming from someone who doesn't get her nails done really ever. Caveats. The color that appears to be a deep burgundy came out to be more of a deep dusty rose for me. I truthfully didn't mind this because it's more of a wearable color to me. I imagine it would take quite a few coats to achieve that deep richness in the photo, but the kit directions even say to try and keep your coats thin to achieve success. The rest of the colors are pretty accurate to what's provided in the product shot. I painted the colors on the box I received for reference. The pink doesn't look great because it's rather sheer and just created a wet spot on the cardboard. And last note, it's really important to not let the polish pool where the nail meets the skin or paint on top of any dead cuticles. Both of these scenarios means that the polish is not fully adhered to the nail, so it may start to peel. It has been four days of wear for me with the nails still looking great, but I do have the slightest signs of the polish peeling where it had pooled a bit on one of my nails. This was a user error.

I taught myself how to do my own acrylic nails a few years ago. I'm still by no means great at it but I get by and get a lot of compliments. I finally decided to invest in a gel polish system because I got tired of literally watching paint dry. I decided to purchase this kit to get me started and I'm just LOVING the results. If you have absolutely no idea what you're doing I suggest watching some videos on YouTube before attempting. Because this polish cures hard, there is no fixing mistakes after it's dry. Being careful during application is crucial. I lightly followed the instructions that came with the kit but I added a couple steps that I've learned will enhance the outcome... It is imperative that you fully cleanse the nail bed before applying this polish. Removing all the oils and dirt that are on the nails surface will lengthen the amount of time the polish will last. I take the nail brush that comes in the kit and scrub my nails with Dawn dish soap before applying. Once you've done this, be careful not to itch anything with your nails as you will transfer oils back to the nail bed. This polish is a bit thicker than normal polish so just make sure to apply thin layers so they can cure properly. If the layers are too thick they won't cure and you'll have a mess. I cured each layer for 2 minutes each, but the final top coat I cured for 3 minutes. The UV light that comes in this kit is not as strong as the ones they use in nail salons so it does take a bit longer. I have not yet tested the longevity of this polish but will update accordingly. So far I'm very happy and really excited that I just painted my nails, start to finish & ready to go, in 30 minutes.

For the price, you can’t beat it. This kit comes with a lot and a fully functioning UV LED lamp. It comes with files, cuticle tools and design tools, gem stones and nail stickers, etc. However, the polish it comes with is terrible. Polish is VERY SHEER/LIGHTER than what’s pictured and will not look the same, I would toss out the light pink and just stick with darker colors. Also, not sure if the polish in my kit was old or opened (which lets in unwanted moisture and air) but no matter how much I tried there were so many air bubbles. I have experience will other gel nail polish brands and that never happens unless you slather a huge coat or don’t prep your nails right. I have experience so I know it was not me, the polish just kept bubbling up no matter how thin the coats were. Another downside is the lamp has no back, which could be a good thing if you’re scared about hitting your nails against the back of the lamp. You can stick your whole arm through the lamp, and that causes a lot of UV BLUE LIGHT to emit outward so I highly suggest wearing UV blocking glasses because that light is extremely BAD for your eyes. So definitely look away. To decrease light emitting outwards I put a book or box to cover the back of the lamp, that way light is emitting out two ways. If you’re buying this kit I high suggest you browse amazon for quality gel nail polish because you won’t find quality nail polish in this kit! It is worth it to pay more for quality gel polish because it will make application and results that much better! For the most part, everything in my kit worked and functioned the way it should. Nothing was damaged or broken and shipped/delivered within a week and a half. Box was in good condition. Just make sure to buy your quality nail polish separate from this kit. I would also buy “clear builder gel” and use that as a top coat and cure, it will make your nails and polish last much much longer (good if you wash dishes a lot) and will make it harder which provides a good environment for your nails to grow nice and long without breakage!
