  • This thing is solid objectively.
You don't really need the instructions too much imo, but they do help a ton with the cooling portion it is just very straightforward and easy to assemble. The case is super sturdy, and the design has metal extending on the sides In a way that shields the pi IO pins from getting damaged from most drops or bumps as it would hit the metal on the frame stopping things from reaching the pins unless accurately going directly to the pins. My only complaint is that I wish the cable routing for the fans to the IO power and ground could be cleaner some how, but that isn't a strike against it as it's the best at handling the issue I have come across for cases that expose the full IO as I can't think of a way a case could expose all IO and not have a little wire oddness. I've had it for a few months now and I am a bit rough on my equipment in general and the fans work steady and temps are fine. Fans are a little noisy but they cool the pi and I could replace them if it really bothered me. This pi runs a constant scrub of security camera streams being sent to it with tensorflow and opencv, it is a 8 gig pi 4 so the workload it is going through is on the higher side and cooling has bot been a issue at all, if I was doing massive overclocking It wouldn't work out but that is overkill and not needed for most pi projects. ... show more

  • Keeps my Pi cool.
Does what I bought it for. I'm happy with it.

  • Like a Brick
Pros: Easy to assemble. You might have to trim the thermal paste pads a little. It's like a brick now. You can feel the heat emanating outward but it's just warm. The term "Pie in The Face" would likely cause a concussion or leave a lump. It's that sturdy and heavy. Great case design. Cons: Not for mounting to other devices or hardware. ... show more

  • Both fans squeal; very noisy and annoying
I like the concept and the external GPIO header. The build is solid. for about 2 months the fans were quiet. They definitely keep the Pi 4 cool; however, the fans are very noisy. making the Pi unusable in the intended location. UPDATE: The fans are quiet when removed from the case. The problem is a tight fit within the metal case compressing the fan case. I filed the aluminum case to give the fan boxes a bit more room and that resolved the noisy fan issue. I've revised my review from 1 to 4 stars. ... show more

  • By far, this is the best
Every other case I’ve had were too light, every fan too loud, maybe not at first but eventually. This case, milled aluminum is solid and heavy enough to not be ‘fly around’ with every pull or push of the wires and cords. This case has two fans and both of them have been and are totally silent. It’s the only case I’ll use. Update: I’ve been using this for about 6 months now. The RPi runs 24x7 performing various monitoring processes, all running in docker containers. The case, RPi and a 10inch monitor have performed perfectly. Even during the few power outages, the system, and other systems, run off an inline Jackery power source. So it’s truly 24x7. I don’t understand the complaints about connecting the fans. Look at the pin assignments, easily found on the net, and you can see where to connect the female connectors. ... show more

  • Exactly what I wanted
Item was exactly as promised and I love it. Very well put together, and looks awesome. I fired up my Pi and it stayed cool. I recommend it to anyone that wants to have a good case. This one is well worth it. Fans are slightly noisey, but that doesn't matter because I wear headphones, lol.

  • Pi Server not bad
With a 2Ghz overclock, fans on and full system load, the Pi never goes over 60C at 22C ambient which is well under the 80C throttling temp. Right now I have it as a CHIA farm machine which is overkill but when I was using it as a NAS with full LUKS disk encryption it was able to sustain full 1Gbps transfer rates. Good: The heatsink extends down and with the provided pads all the chips except for USB power are granted heatsink access. I was going to use paste or better pads but with the PI under 60C for 99% of the time I decided to be lazy. Improvement: I think the fans could use a better ducting strategy as they seem to just blast air at a dead end. Fans are loud for sure and I wouldn't want to sleep near them. One of the screws had a stripped head and was difficult to remove but luckily they provided extra. Maybe have a few holes in the top of the heatsink to allow for airflow within the enclosure? ... show more
