I researched quite a bit before I pulled the trigger on this purchase. There are a lot of 7 piece body hammer and dolly sets out there that are much cheaper, but with those you get even less than what you pay for. This set is about 3 times the cost of those really cheap sets, but in this case you get more than you pay for. These are not by any means professional tools, but they do have some of the qualities of professional grade tools. What they are is, higher than average hobby grade tools. If you are just working on an occasional project or just learning to do body work in general, these tools will serve you well. By the time you wear these out, you'll appreciate what makes a professional grade hammer and dolly set so expensive. I've never used a block and body hammer before. Nice finish on the tools. I've purchased Gearwrench tools before, and they have been great tools for the money. I like the wooden handles. Weight is good, and tools store well in the case.

I have not used these yet but wanted to upload some better pictures and review them after my initial inspection. For the price and the lack of decent competition in this price range I would say these are a safe bet if you are like me and want an introductory set of hammers and dollies that is not complete garbage. The hickory handles are straight and free of defects. Not that it bothers me but the finish of the wood is relatively rough. all the working metal surfaces are well polished and I believe they are clear coated, I'm not sure if that is standard practice but it will be interesting to see how the finish holds up. Overall there are no real surprises, Gearwrench is not top of the line but they get you about 90% there. ... show more

My purchase was based on reading reviews by experienced technicians that, while not professional tools, these were better quality than those in the under $50 kits. After receiving these tools, I examined them closely, and all appear to be smooth and unpitted. The hickory handles are smooth and comfortable to grip. Excellent quality for the price. I used one of the body blocks and a door hammer to reskin a door and it came out perfect. These have a nice grind on them, They are sturdy and light, well balanced. I've used the pick more than a couple times to get little dings down. The box is heavy duty and will be able to store the hammers no problem with repeated use. Was pleasantly surprised when this was delivered. Didn't expect to be packaged in a nice blown plastic case. Tools are well made and sturdy. The finish on the Dolly set is fantastically smooth. Using this set will help in removing those unsightly dents and not add additional blemishes you get with other Dollies due to rough faces. You definitely get what you pay for.
