Description

The Pass-Thru™ socket and GearRatchet™ ratchet system by GEARWRENCH was designed to improve productivity and access on every job. The GearRatchet™ ratchets need as little as 5° to move fasteners vs. 30° for standard wrenches and are 40% stronger than standard ratchets by eliminating the drive tang. The ratchets are up to 50% thinner than standard ratchets providing superior access to even the most hard to reach fasteners. The Pass-Thru™ sockets are a thin wall design. They replace the need for deep well sockets as they loosen and drive nuts on bolts of any length. The Pass Thru® sockets integrate into the GEARWRENCH GearRatchet™ handle, reducing overall height and increasing torque strength. The GEARWRENCH adapter allows for the use of standard sockets and drive tools.

  • Good wrench but not without its weakness.
This is an awesome drive system BUT... Gearwrench should engineer a quick release for the wrench itself (like a separate button or slide lock) to allow for the sockets to be removed easily. The flaw I'm about to discuss is inherent in the design of the wrench and not limited to gearwrench. Currently the sockets need some effort to insert or remove from the wrench. This tells me that with frequent use, there will be wear such that the socket will insert and remove more easily but the sockets will likely fall out of the wrench due to looseness. This is very bad in limited space where there is a high probability of losing the sockets. With a locking or unlocking mechanism engineered into the wrench, the socket will not wear down the mechanism for securing the socket inside the drive insert of the wrench, AND at the same time, also allowing for quick change of the sockets. I hope that Gearwrench will consider this for the next gen wrenches. Even so, this is an awesome wrench. I just question how long I can go without losing sockets to limited access areas. ... show more

  • good quality
I bouht 3 sets of these the first set I used a full year deployed over seas on KAF as a mechanic in the Army, they performed very well I used them more than the supplied military tools, they fit in places other standard socket sets couldnt also I was not easy on them, at all...They broke loose some of the hardest bolts without breaking the ratcheting mechanism. I left them there for the next unit. when I came back home I purchased 2 more 1 for me and 1 for my dad...now the drawbacks...the handles are not comfortable if you are breaking loose a stubborn bolt the handle cuts into the base of you're fingers, its not bad but its a little uncomfortable. The other drawback is that the handle on the case is not on both sides its like the engineer who madethe case was a prankster he made it so if you forget to lock the clips and you pick the case up every ratchet and socket comes spilling out all over the floor and under the bench, it took that happening to me one time before I took a steel rod about 6 inches long and a same size drill bit to install a handle on the top half of the box so whether it was latched or not you could pick the box up and not have an accident ... show more

  • Good for the price
Good for the price. HOWEVER, it's very difficult to separate the wrench and attachments. There isn't really a great way to grip the tool and pull the parts apart. Nice shine that seems to hold. The weight in the hand is good. The blow molded case is decent, but I've already accidently dropped it while partly open. ... show more

  • Disappointed with this Mainstream Brand
Upon removing the cardboard sleeve and opening the latches, the top immediately separated from the bottom at the hinges. There is no metal, just cheap plastic pin insert. Also on the 1/4" drive, changing the direction lever it binds and sticks in the teeth with no ratchet movement. Have to fiddle with it back and forth until it lines up correctly. This is just poor quality all around. Returning. ... show more

  • Deep Well Socket Compliment
The concept behind this socket set - tighten down nuts on long stemmed bolts without using deep welled sockets, and this does a fantastic job of doing so. I have used this set on securing base framing to concrete slabs (with imbedded L-Anchor bolts) and assembly of wood beam playscapes. Although this is only the 4th project using these sockets, they seem to hold up very well. There have been a couple of times when I was using deep sockets on long bolts and ran out of "reach", so I swithched to the pass through sockets to finish the job - very handy! The variety of sizes and two seperate ratchets (1/4 & 3/8) adds versatility to this set. GearWrench makes an excellent product, both with their ratcheting combination wrenches and now, this set. I strongly recommend it. GJM ... show more

  • Great for tie rod ends and strut top nuts
Great for tie rod ends and strut top nuts. When you need to torque something specific and require access to do so these are it!.
