  • Great, non skipping, set of 1/2" SAE deep and standard sockets.
Strengths: Construction, finish, feel, heft, laser+stamp engraved Weaknesses: None noted Recommendations: Absolutely recommended if you want a great set of 1/2 impact SAE sockets Notes: GearWrench has become my go to for tools with the fall of Craftsman. Kobalt was made in the same factory as one of the big two (Mac or snapon) like a decade ago, but no longer. I started out life with buying one of those 100piece sets from kobalt almost a decade ago, and that served me well. Recently though, I bought a big red 44" tool chest (always wanted one) and needed to fill it with all the sockets I could ever need, in every size, with no gaps. Because I wanted to. Not for any crazy project. After cruising Garage Journal for weeks, I settled on GearWrench and became hooked. I own this set, the 1/2" Metric set (which skips 25mm/1"), the 3/8" Metric and SAE sets, the 1/4" set, and a full set of their 120xp in both flex head and straight shaft (hehe). Probably going to buy the crazy allen wrench/security fastener/whatever set as well. The quality of GearWrench as a brand is far and above what most big box stores sell. Sure you could spend as much as you would on a new truck buying from Snapon or MAC, but these are great. I have a full set of Snapon tools at work (I'm not a mechanic) and to my amateur hands, I can't feel or tell any noticeable difference in them. Highly recommended ... show more

  • Great Sockets
Sockets are very good. Easy to see what size it is, dispite them being impact sockets, they are thinner than most brands but still hold up to heavy use. Great products. The cases are alright, I've had the latches bend a bit but just put them on organizers.

  • Tremendous Value for Money
I try to buy only tools made in the USA, but in this case I just don't use impact sockets enough to justify the cost of a set from Snap-On, Williams, etc. GEARWRENCH has a good reputation, so I bought this 39 Pc. 1/2" Drive 6 Pt. Impact Socket Set, Standard & Deep, SAE (84947N). The set came in a solid thick plastic carrying case, included all sockets with no missing parts. I haven't had a chance to hit them with an impact wrench yet, but I did test them with a 1/2" socket wrench and breaker bar. Honestly, if you were in a pinch, you could just buy this set and skip the standard sockets. ... show more

  • Great Set!
I just received the sockets today and was pleased. Pictures are attached to show close ups of the set. Pros: -A very complete set of SAE sockets -The finish on the sockets is great. They are smooth and feel good in the hand. -The sockets are labeled clearly with both laser etching and stamping -The storage container also has the sizes clearly marked to make it easy to determine where to put sockets back -The clasps on the front of the container are metal -The hinges have a metal pin Cons: -There are side clips on the container which appear poorly made. One of them was already broken off when it arrived. This shouldn't be a big problem since the front clasps hold the container closed. -Somehow during shipping a couple of the sockets moved around in the container. It wasn't a big deal but there is the container has a small amount of damage as shown in one of the pictures. -The depth of the sockets varies. I found that some sockets went deeper than others. At first I assumed that it must be related to the socket size but there is no correlation between size and socket depth. This shouldn't be an issue in daily use but makes me wonder what would cause varying depths during production and whether it indicates laIf these were priced very high then I would care a lot more. Even considering the Cons, I am very pleased with this set. ... show more

  • Complete Set
I Use this set for Asphalt Plant Maintenance where bolts are often essentially “glued” with liquid asphalt. The sockets have stood up to very long breaker/cheater bars and impact guns without any failures. Easy to read sizes and a case which seems durable so far makes this socket set a winner!

  • Worth the money
Love this set. Only downfall is the 3 biggest sockets aren't square all the way through so they don't fit in my socket organizer. But I can deal with it for you've quality
