Description

The GEARWRENCH ratcheting combination wrenches are the original patented ratcheting wrench! The ratcheting box end is designed to need as little as 5° to move fasteners versus 30° for standard wrenches. The wrenches are made from strong alloy steel with a bright, full polish chrome finish. The ratcheting box end features off-corner loading for a better grip on the fastener and reduces fastener rounding. They’re available in various lengths and styles, including: XL length, stubby, flex, stubby flex, and locking flex.

Great set! Used it for over a year now, no problems so far. So durability has been good. Includes all the sizes I've needed to work on my Hondas and Mazdas. Included foam tray fits my box, and keeps everything organized. Only wish they had directional switches.

I have a couple of plastic cases of Craftsman wrenches that no long latch (use a large binder clip to hold them closed :)) that I have been using for over 20 years. I take great care of them and still have them all but the cases have definitely seen better days. They are great for when you need to bring a complete socket set with you somewhere. BUT, I recently inherited some classic cars form the 1950's and am in the process of designing a nice garage with tools. It is time to buy a tool cart with drawers where everything has its place. Snap-On are just too much for me and in my research GearWrench tools got very high marks. I saw these trays for SAE and Metric Wrenches and sockets and decided to pull the trigger and buy all three. These will be put into my tool cart draws when I get them for the new garage. These came in the white boxes like the one shown in the picture. The foam as measured is 20 3/8" across and 13 1/2" deep. This is the same dimension for all three trays of tools. Now for the tools: The sockets, are bad a$$. They have every size you could need in all three ratchets. The ratchets have 90 tooth sprockets in them which is excellent. They have a heavy solid build feel to them. Comes with Multiple extensions and swivel adaptor. I was drooling over this for a bit tonight. Some other review noted it didn't come with impact sockets but I don't think I have ever seen a set that was mixed so no surprise there. The wrenches, again every size you could need with ratcheting box ends and a full set of stubby wrenches for tight spots. The foam holders, everything fits snug in their place. They are very clearly marked and the foam and cutouts are high end, very clean. As noted in the beginning am just starting to build the garage layout and tool boxes so next I need to get the cabinet to place these in but am looking to use these for the rest of my days and then hand them down to my son later in life. I realize for the average do it your selfer these are a bit pricy but if you can swing it, you won't be dissapointed. ... show more

I have been a consistent supporter of Gearwrench and Sata products, so when these new ratcheting wrench sets in foam came out, I knew I had to have it. Here are my thoughts: I immediately noticed that the ratcheting wrench set is basically a no-skip set, only missing 23 mm. The stubbies go from 10 mm to 19 mm, and the full size wrenches include 6-22 mm and 24 mm. There are no noticeable defects in the chrome on any of them. The size stamps aren't going to rub off or disappear, but they have to be read in the light, as most wrenches are. I wish they had the number cut in as they do, but then also colored or some other type of delineation to tell between imperial and metric. Based on my limited use so far, the ratcheting mechanism is solid. That being said, they have a bit of slop in them after the pawl engages the tooth, but there has to be some level of allowed tolerance, otherwise the ratcheting mechanism wouldn't work. The slop doesn't seem excessive by any means. These are regular ratcheting wrenches, so they aren't reversible, and they aren't flex head. I like the 0 degree offset of these wrenches, but that is personal preference. Now, onto the reason most people will buy this set, the foam tray: I truly enjoy the black with orange color scheme of the foam, but that may clash with some existing toolboxes and sets. Colors not matching isn't really a concern of mine. These are my first sets of tools that come with custom foam trays, and it made me realize that I need a bigger tool box. The foam tray is honestly really great to have, better than I ever thought it would be. The wrenches always stay still, and the size is listed on the foam so it is easy to find the wrench you need.
