If you are looking to upgrade a Floyd Rose Special this is a great way to get a high quality trem at a ridiculously low price. If you are Floyd Rose purist in the way that you want higher profile saddles, or want to run a D-Tuna then you might want to stick to FR. But if you want an all steel trem with lower profile saddles and tuning stability look no further. Gotoh is no stranger to game when it comes to replacement parts and they have been a FR licensed manufacturers almost since the beginning. They definitely refined the original designs and incorporated it into a solid upgrade option. I love how the trem bar screws into a grub screw but also has an adjustable collar if you prefer to let the bar swing away from you loosely, bottom line it is adjustable to preference. This system also makes the bar response immediate with absolutely no slack at all. I wish I used all the hardware like the locking stud posts, but I was only wanting to do a one for one swap with a FR Special, so I used the existing stud posts with no issues. If there is anything that might cause an issue is the length of the string retaining screws as they are the long versions. They wouldn’t fit into FR routing, so I simply swapped out the shorter screws from the FR Special to finish the job. I’ll end up purchasing another GE1996T in the future.

I replace my licensed Floyd Rose tremolo in my Jackson Dinky with the Gotoh and what an amazing upgrade in quality and tuning stability! The fine tunings screws on the factory tremolo were garbage and these are smooth as silk! If you’re debating whether or not this Gotoh is worth it, spend the money and see if you don’t fall in love with that aggregating guitar.

PERFECT FOR Jackson Js32 King V. I dropped it in and it fit perfectly, I did not use the post since someone online said they were to big but the original posts worked so I did not care. I tuned this thing once and only have not touch it in weeks. Here and there I adjust the fine tuning knobs but that's normal. I do not hard the whammy bar so that also helps but for this much money it is a steal. It's looks nice and was built well and can be adjusted with ease.

Love this trem. It feels a lot smoother than the stock fr special it replaced. Seller is awesome and included a 33mm brass block on top of providing quick shipping. It is slightly larger than the stock bridge and a couple of the string clamp bolts do overhang the cavity. I haven't fine tuned the intonation yet so it might end clearing if I can get that lucky. I used hardened steel floyd rose posts and haven't had a issue with it returning to zero. The gotoh fgr 2 nut and string retainer purchased from another seller do not match the stock screw lay out of the floyd rose on my guitar.

First of all let me say that i did alot of research before purchasing a replacement FR for my 96 jackson mij professional... i have been playing and doing my own luthier work for over 20 years... ive tried a few different FR replacements and have rarely been impressed especially with the so called FR Special........ until now that is. ROCK SOLID TUNING even after an eye popping solo run of bends, pulls, flutters, dive bombs, and squealies.. everything you could ever ask for in a 2pt locking tremolo and then some.. improved sustain and the fine tuners on this thing are nothing less than amazing... I had no problems with fitting the Gotoh 1996T FR in to the existing routing and on to existing pivot posts ( the body is pretty thin so i decided not to chance drilling it for locking studs that were included without a drill press).. this listing came with a shorter 33mm brass block and was indeed needed in order to use the back cover plate.. BEWARE: if you do end up changing the brass block to label your factory saddle position before removing them as they form a curve to match common fretboard radius' and is so subtle you never notice until you put it back together wrong.. if you didn't mark then like i did just set them all next to one anther.. tallest go in the middle, shortest on the end, the last 2 in-between.. I have always been impressed with Gotoh products and this one is no different.. Its half the price and double the quality of a branded Floyd Rose. From locking pivot posts and a solid locking tremolo arm with 0 play (waaaaay better than the original i promise...) this product blows the original away and should be standard on all guitars with a floating tremolo.. I rarely use the word perfect but this is truly perfection.. even if you have to do a little wood work on a different brand of guitar you will thank your self when it's done..

Replaced a FR Special on my Jackson Soloist with this. Huge quality difference immediately noticed. Trem feels more solid in hand than the special. Also flutters great once set up properly. And the fact that the seller includes a 33mm block is a lifesaver. The 40mm stock block sticks out the back of my soloist, so it was a nogo. Feels on par with my original Floyd rose minus the expensive price tag.
