  • Not so easy
Loved the idea of not having to strip the insulation on the wires but found that I actually had to on at least one of them to get a connection.

  • Works just fine
I had tried something like this many years ago and it didn't work very well - the contacts would not penetrate the wire insulation. So when I needed to rewire a 60+ year-old Christmas Nativity scene, I had my doubts about this method. But the price convinced me to give it another shot. Not sure what is different, but this time it worked just fine - the contacts penetrated the insulation with no problem on the first try. But if you're using anything heavier than 18-gauge wire, I'd try something a little more substantial - something that would involve stripping the insulation and attaching to contacts directly. But for something this light, it worked great. ... show more

  • Need stripper tool
Didn't cut through the old lamp wire but had to end up stripping it and got it to work though but you'll need that stripper tool.

  • replacement plugs
It was difficult to install. I had to use vise grip pliers to close it onto the wire. Once I got it closed it was good.

  • Tricky to Assemble, Solves The Issue
So, this is supposed to be a zero-strip solution, but the body doesn’t have enough strength to cut into some wires. So you have to strip the ends slightly and make sure its aligned where the blade would have come down. Once connecting to the wire, all is pretty much ok. The wires also sometimes don’t fit properly in the housing, it can be difficult to maneuver the wires into the channel, but if you don’t get it right you can’t screw the thing together. Overall this worked for me, solving my issue, and is a little more compact than other solutions. ... show more
