Had a fairly difficult time getting this to connect to my network when I initially set it up. Once I got it connected, for the most part it works through Google home without issue. On occasion, Google home does not recognize connectivity of the AC, and I have to wait a little while or use the remote to manually power on , power off, or adjust temp. Despite the random disconnects, I am truly satisfied with this air conditioner. It cools the room quickly, and even cools off other rooms outside of my bedroom. I specifically bought the 10,000 BTU model for this purpose, so I wouldn't have to install another AC in my living room. I have limited outlets in my apartment, and I'm actually using this a standard outlet with a couple of other devices plugged in. No issues with power dropouts, or overloads. It connects into Google home, which is another feature I was looking for in a smart AC, and most of the time, I am able to easily turn it on, off, or adjust the temperature or any other feature or setting by voice. I also really like the scheduling feature, so I can set it to turn on or off, whatever temperature I want, for whatever days and times I want.     • AC works perfectly, SmartConnect initially glitchy

The good: The AC took less than 15 minutes to install. It rapidly cools a 300 square foot space. The fan is powerful and the noise level is fine (it's a very even, calming white noise). The remote works from across the room. The bad: The "smart" features are completely useless. The app (at least on a late-model Android phone) is entirely unusable. It times out so rapidly (within seconds) that I could barely set up an account, let alone move on to the next steps. Bottom line: If you need a powerful AC that isn't so loud, this one works, but don't expect the "smart" features to necessarily work. UPDATE: I'm bringing this up to 5 stars as the issue noted above was apparently a glitch, as I was subsequently able to access the "Smart" features. There are still a few minor glitches (occasionally the AC drops from the network, even when the rest of my wi-fi and internet are fine), but it's 95% there, which is good enough for me. ... show more

    • Works fine but temperature range is too big

Edited after I got it working better. Overall it would be a 5-star rating except that the temperature range for automatic operation is too wide. Installation went fine, and it was nice that they include 3 different types of foam to help insulate the gaps around the AC and window frame. The AC isn't terribly loud and it cools well. The problem is that the temperature range for automatic on/off is plus/minus 3 full degrees. It has to get 3 degrees warmer than the set point to turn on, and it doesn't turn off until it is 3 degrees colder. In practice, that's far too wide of a temperature range. It seemed to work better before the firmware update, so I'm not sure if this is something that changed or if they're always like this. Because of this, I have to manually turn the AC on and off, and the set temperature is pretty much worthless. I don't want it to have to cool down everything a full 6 degrees from when it comes on to when it turns off, that's way too much. Selectable or just plus/minus 1 or 2 degrees would be much more useable. ... show more

So happy we bought this unit! Our best window units are GE. It's quiet yet powerful and has a nice updated look to it with a drain plug on the back. My only issue with it is that when it rains the water comes through the vent. I have to turn the unit off so it doesn't spray rain water everywhere. But we should be able to fix that. ... show more

Update-after using them for a year and a couple of months the air conditioners won't turn on. Looks like many others are having the same problem usually right after the warranty expires! There's no fix for the AC's! You must buy new! Most of our appliances in our home are the GE brand. NOT ANY LONGER! VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GE! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE AC'S! ... show more

    • Died after two summers in New England — no warranty — Error Code 88

The A/C unit died after two summers — maximum of 6 months in total. The Wi-Fi never worked properly and today the A/C until failed — shutting off and on and displaying an error code 88. Google this and you’ll see exactly what I experienced or read other negative reviews. I contacted GE support and they were zero help. They said that it was a serious issue and that they couldn’t service the model. They said I could reach out to a service person but I’m guessing that the cost of the visit would be more than the actual unit. Luckily, this will be the last GE product I purchase. It’s also incredibly loud when it works. Incredibly disappointed and won’t be buying A/C units on Amazon again. Hopefully, this review gets approved and it might help out someone before they waste their money on a poorly made product. I had a 20+ year old backup A/C unit in the attic and that’s working better than this 2 year old A/C unit. The GE brand has declined and lost it’s brand equity in my book. The negative word of mouth likely won’t do anything to the brand but If I help one person not make the same mistake then this review was worth writing. ... show more
